**UPDATE**

EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE REACHED OUR TARGET...

While our minimum funding target is $16,000, our DREAM target is $25,000.

$16,000 will allow us to have the bare essentials for making the film while $25,000 will give us the ability to realise all of our creative ambitions and wacky ideas.

Every single cent pledged will go straight onto the screen. In other words, the money will be used for critical things such as:

- Props and costumes

- Equipment hire

- Post production facilities & services

- Insurance

- Catering

- Marketing materials

Here are some wise words from our friends Benjamin Law and Lawrence Leung.

WHAT IS IT?

BLOOMERS is a 15 minute short comedy directed by Corrie Chen, written by Michelle Law and produced by Jiao Chen. As our writer Michelle Law puts it, this film is "Todd Solondz meets Freaks and Geeks meets menstrual blood." With your help, we can bring this outrageously un-PC film to life.

SYNOPSIS

15-year-old Stella knows that she’s not like the other girls in grade ten: she’s scrawny, boobless and bespectacled, and teased mercilessly for it—mainly by Emma, the class bully whose popularity is outweighed only by her massive jugs. When Stella discovers during a sex-ed class that she’s the only girl in her grade who hasn’t gotten her period, it’s the last straw. With the help of her friends, Martin (Stella’s semi-closeted best friend) and Gabby (the token Chinese kid), Stella attempts to fit in by fast tracking her way to womanhood. But Stella doesn’t realise that growing up takes time, and when puberty creeps up on you, it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

BLOOMERS is a teen comedy-drama about what it means to fit in, and be comfortable with who you are. Stella is a girl who, at the beginning of the story, feels like she has been completely left behind and deserted by puberty when she’s the only girl in class who DOESN’T have her period. She can’t wait to grow up and blend in with the crowd, a feeling that echoes most of our feelings in high school.

Tonally, this film will be largely inspired by the spirit of awkward, oddball teen-themed films and the TV that has come before it - think Todd Solondz’s Welcome to the Dollhouse and Paul Feig/Judd Apatow’s Freak and Geeks and Superbad, meets mensturation.

I am hoping to achieve a blend of comedy and tragedy (that pretty much sums up my own teenage years), and affectionately make light of the struggles of being a teenager. Both Michelle and I are at our best when we are able to ground stories in comedy, mainly because it’s harder to pull off poo jokes in drama. Though one day we’ll figure out how. Watch this space.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pozible allows the public to donate money to creative projects in exchange for rewards and the knowledge that the project will get made. You can pledge as little or as much as you want by clicking on the big green SUPPORT PROJECT button in the right hand column. Payment can be made with your credit or debit card. Note that your payment will only be processed if we manage to reach our minimum funding target of $16,000. If we don't reach that target, you will not be charged and we will not get any of the money!
