Okay what the hell is Greenfield?
Do you know the fear of not being accepted for who you really are?
This is the subject of a new high-end web series, Greenfield from the Director and the Writer/Producer of Restare Uniti (We Stick Together).
We have been lucky enough to be accepted into the 3 to 1 initiative so that every dollar raised will be matched with 3 more from our beautiful friends at Screenwest. (If we hit our target by the deadline the $11,500 will become a total of $46,000)
The series will focus on strong characters, story and relationships in real life situations rather than gunfights, bank robberies and car chases. We want to prove that the most powerful stories can be told in a more subtle and realistic way. (Read more story and style below.)
To raise money for Greenfield we are hosting the party to end all parties at the Leederville Hotel on Monday, December 17. We will be showcasing work from some of the most talented filmmakers Perth has to offer. More info on the films will be further down the page. It's a fantastic venue and we are aiming to get thousands of people down to enjoy a night of short films, hip hop artists, fashion, magic and sweet DJs. And it's also the perfect way to launch our campaign! Entry will be by donation to the project which can be anywhere from $2 to $2000 depending on how generous you might be feeling on the night! (And which rewards take your fancy!)

So... What is this story about?
James is a hardliner with an attitude from the city that moves in with his girlfriend Kelley to a small suburban community called Greenfield, where she grew up. Quite quickly, James finds that he is not very welcomed by people there because he’s from the city and he’s different. After a little while though, he soon learns that everyone there has a big secret, and no one is accepted for who they really are, with most putting on personas to get by. James refuses to be indifferent to this and pretty soon all of their secrets begin to unravel around him.
James quickly befriends Kelley’s father Ben and brother Michael, both loners, neither of which fit into the small community. Kelley’s ex-boyfriend Alex, who still wants her back, and his mates immediately target James. The rest of the community soon join in when James’ dividing behavior catches up with him as a scandalous accusation surfaces and the entire town seems to conspire against him. (read more in depth story synopsis further down the page).

What are you going to do with our money?

Your money will help us make an 8 part web series that will challenge the format by shying away from the typical sci fi or comedy web series. This is a great story with the integrity of real life drama and is an exploration of human relationships and group mentality. To give an example of the level of quality we will be making in terms of storytelling, image and performances for very low budgets you can now watch our directors’ previous films right here:

One Page Synopsis:
James has left the city lifestyle behind him and brings unresolved baggage as he moves in with his girlfriend Kelley into her local suburban community “Greenfield”. Kelley is a strongly willed, smart and pretty girl. She gave him an ultimatum. It was this or nothing. James is a force to be reckoned with, strong in his own moral beliefs, but somewhat of a rebel with a flair for getting into trouble. They are in their late twenties and in love.
James is immediately labeled as the arrogant city-guy who “took” the prettiest girl in town, steaming up jealousy with Kelley’s alpha male ex-boyfriend Alex and his mates. While Kelley is busy writing her final university thesis at home, their feud intensifies dramatically.
Meanwhile James befriends Kelley’s easygoing father Ben. James also takes Kelley’s younger brother Michael under his protective wing. Michael is hiding his homosexuality from everyone and has been in an abusive friendship with the local gang of guys. James and Michael form an unlikely friendship.
James quickly runs into trouble with his inability to look the other way when baring witness to a girl, Justine being slapped around in the deli. James interferes and trouble starts with her abusive boyfriend Jason. Justine however becomes fascinated by James and does little to hide this from her infuriated boyfriend who also happens to be the local drug peddler.
Meanwhile James’ frustrations with Kelley’s seeming lack of attention to him and their relationship are reaching boiling point. They fight and start to drift apart. Concurrently James is charmed by Justine’s blunt fascination with him, and rumors begin to spread.
Kelley’s brother, Michael develops feelings for James and is seen kissing him by his group of friends. His sexuality now being exposed to his abusers, Michael goes missing. On top of this James is accused of a terrible act, and the whole town seems to turn against him as he stands to lose everything.
