Room 328 at Melbourne Fringe Festival
Help us fly.
In September, the cast and crew of Room 328 will board a plane to Melbourne Fringe Festival. We need your support to pay for flights and accommodation. Get us on that plane and become a Room 328 Original.
Check out the list of rewards – they are all handmade artifacts of your support and stamped with “Room 328 Original”.
We will grow.
Melbourne Fringe Festival has selected Room 328 to be in The Fringe Hub: the only curated program of the Fringe. This is an opportunity for us to meet new audiences, expand as artists and represent the independent arts in Brisbane.
This city has always had our back.
We’ve been working on this show for 4 years. We are proud of our Brisbane seasons at Metro Arts and Brisbane Powerhouse. There isn’t a character limit high enough to thank the individuals who have gotten this show this far. Room 328 is cut from the fabric of this city.
Thank you Metro Arts, Brisbane Powerhouse, La Boite Theatre Company and Q.U.T. for throwing so much support in our direction.
More than this.
When you step into Room 328 a performer takes your hand. This marks the beginning of a completely immersive experience. What we’ve created is akin to Peter Pan’s Neverland: a room of eternal youth where all that matters is shooting tequila, partying and fighting.
To create this show we drew on the extreme drinking culture found in the Fortitude Valley every weekend. It’s dominated by young men who drink because it’s the only way they know how to survive in this world. This scene is reflected statistically: Australia is the highest in levels of violence, drinking and suicides amongst young men.
Plastic cups, lock-outs and a heavy-handed police force.
The government has one way of dealing with this. Room 328 is an alternative. We wanted to erase the line that usually separates these ‘boys’ and us. We’ve created a space where the audience can get close to the heart of these men.
If you can’t love, like us.
If you don’t have cash to support us, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Then tell every Melbourne friend and relative that we’re coming.
Yours sincerely,
The Room 328 Cast and Creatives.
