The Problem:

I want you to think about the phrase “Starving artist” in the age of twitch streamers, influencers and youtubers.

dARTbase is a service for artists to navigate the arts industry  - there are so many options an artist can have no idea where to start and often they rely on their networks experiences to make decisions and connections. 

Few artists are comfortable posting on linkedin, they don’t have a network for their diverse needs and are taken for a ride with Intellectual property infringements on freelancing services.

Artists need to leverage themselves in creative marketing, content creation and businesses. The creative industries refers to a broad collection of diverse art forms, products and services. Each fraction exists in isolation without the necessary support or infrastructure to champion their needs and interests in times of crisis. 

The Solution:

No service exists to help unify the industry for artists and their industry counterparts. 

dARTbase serves as a market-network and home for all creatives with portfolio, networking and marketplace services. Its sole purpose is to connect users with clients, industry professionals, merchants and other service providers in order to maximise their reach and creative potential. In doing so, it helps the industry evolve and adapt to our everchanging world.

dARTbase offers artists all of the essential tools and connections to achieve the best possible outcomes from the fruits of their labour. It is a one-stop-shop for creatives to connect, collaborate, create and cash out. We provide creatives with the essentials: 

• an easy to update portfolio to list their work, 
• a network to connect with other creatives, businesses, merchandisers and audience members, 
• a marketplace to monetise their skills and locate industry professionals, merchandisers, brands.

The Validation:

We have had lots of support from all levels of creatives. Some notable artists include:

• Cindy Vogel, a costume designer who has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga. 

• Spare Time Collective, a project of nearly 2000 DJs across AU&NZ,

• Simon from the band DZ Death Rays,

• Fintan Magee, a renowned Aussie street artist,

The Traction:

• In 2020 we received a small grant from City of Sydney
• We qualified for Bubble.io’s COVID affected communities plan giving us a premium plan for free for our prototype dartbase.io. 
• In 2021 we are partnering with Sentia.com.au the original developers of Airtasker to launch our minimal viable product.
• In 2021 our founder is a participant of Western Sydney Launchpad Accelertor, the Studio in Sydney Start Up Hub

Key Hires: 
Our founder Gemma has undertaken Y Combinator's Startup School and is a participant in Australian Independent Records Women in Music mentorship. Our co-founder Riley who has been an artist liaison to many well-known acts and promoted numerous venues in Brisbane as well as on the Gold Coast and is undertaking a scholarship for an entrepreneurship course with Engensis.com with Gemma. Jearko is our technology lead, Lily and Owen are our digital content producers, Francis is our marketing wiz and Pranay leads the financial aspects of the business.

• Pledge $25, 50 or 100 and recieve free use of the service (times vary based on pledge amount), a discount on products from Karst Stone paper and us printing a tree for carbon offseting.

We have options for art lovers:

• Pledge $50 or more and recieve a limited edition (1 of 100) digital print from one of our 5 selected visual artists for you to keep forever, a discount on Karst Stone Paper products and a tree planted in your name. 

Pledge $1000 and receive  a limited edition NFT art from one of our selected visual artists, a discount on Karst Stone Paper products and a tree planted in your name.

We have options for Businesses and Brands:

• Pledge $1000 and receive a curated creative campaign for your business! This includes: a video call to flesh out your creative needs, introduction to key artists on our marketplace for your creative campaign. You also receive a 10% discount off artist services to help reduce the costs of your first campaign. 
• Pledge $1500 and receive an opportunity to have their product or service placed or advertised at one of our dARTbase branded events. This will include our partnerships with community events or dARTbase solely hosted events. Receive a curated creative campaign for your business! This includes: a video call to flesh out your creative needs, introduction to key artists on our marketplace for your creative campaign. You also receive a 10% discount off artist services to help reduce the costs of your first campaign. 

We are not okay with starving artists! It is time to support artists with dARTbase.

$25,000 and matched funds from City of Sydney will allow us to code out our Minimal Viable Product  for $50,000. This will enable artists to upload their portfolio and network with basic marketplace ability.

We are applying for grants and talking to investors so - if we secure additional funding this is how we aim to spend it!
