Splendor Solis

With this film we're using a fantasy setting and exaggerated characters (the unhappy King who represents civilization, greed, power, and the Free One who represents the natural world, freedom) as a sort of allegory, pointing out that our connection to the world is an important one. Over the course of the film the King leaves the Kingdom, strips his symbols of power and returns to a simple world. It's a basic story, but the best ones always are!
There are definitely environmental themes to the script, with the presence of pollution and a desolate world, but our focus is the human journey and the exploration of happiness. This human element will make the story much more engaging and relateable, and will stop the central message from being overstated.

How The Funds Will Be Used

Concept art by Yaron Topp
$4,000 will go towards a professional sound design and mix. Dialogue is used sparsely in Splendor Solis as I’m a strong believer that actions speak louder than words. A perfect sound design that heightens and progresses the film’s narrative will be an integral component.
$1,500 will be reserved for costumes. We’re going for Marie Antoinette meets Moebius, a unique and lavish design choice that will elevate our production visually and turn what could be a basic genre flick into a considered, artful film.

$1,300 will go towards catering. A large production means a large crew, so there’ll be a lot of mouths to feed.
$700 will be reserved for additional fees such as pozible and paypal charges, as well as paying for rewards such as DVDs and the film’s art book, and covering reward postage.
