SUGAR PINE FALLS is a ten minute short-film, about growing up fast.

As the film begins Monty and his little sister (Jade) are being driven halfway across the country by their mum, (Hannah) in another attempted escape of Monty’s alcoholic father. Monty is 16 and unknowingly wiser than his years, having to look after Hannah through her erratic bouts of depression.

When they arrive at the Sugar Pine Caravan Park, Monty forms an unexpected friendship with James; an intriguing older boy. James is similarly struggling under the emotional fragility of his own mother (Trish). Through their similarity of circumstance they bond, and Monty finds a mentor.

But, Sugar Pine is a dark place where everyone has something to hide. After an overheard telephone conversation, Monty discreetly follows James into the depths of the forest where he discovers a secret that will change him and their friendship forever.

The Challenges

Film making is always a challenge, but that's what is so exciting about it and generally what fuels great moments of creativity.
