I'm very excited to have been selected to exhibit in the "She Spoke" exhibition in Prague at the end of May. The show has been organised by Jessica Serran who is an alchemist and midwife in realizing the dreams of artists. Her mentoring program Becoming Artist has been instrumental in helping me and the other artists involved in the show to not only believe in our dream of having an art career we love, but to be in control of it and make it happen. Becoming Artist is about empowering artists all over the world to rise up, speak their truth and see their work shared beyond their own corner of the world.

The targetted amount of funds will be used for photographic documentation of the work, mounting and framing, and shipping of artwork to and from Prague.  If the target is exceeded, further funds will go firstly toward insurance of work in transit, then accomodation and flight costs. The Becoming Artist exhibtion program will be an annual event with 50% of the sale of all work going toward funding next years cohort. The aim is to cover each participating artists travel, accomodation and artwork shipping costs. As this is the first year, full funding for each artist is not possible and as I am coming the furthest my travel and shipping costs are much higher. Through crowdfunding my participation you will actually be "paying it forward" and assisting the other artists this year and future artists.

My stated target is $5,000 which will fund a portion of the listed expenses and reward production costs. I have listed the project costs in order of importance. My priority is to cover photography, mounting and framing of work and shipping. If my target is exceeded then pledges will go towards transit insurance for the work, accomodation and flights. To fully fund the project I need $8,000 (plus a bit extra to cover cost of rewards and fees) so any funds over the set target amount will still be going towards getting me and my work safely to and from Prague. 

The challenges are to keep a steady head and make sure everything is in order, when all I really want to do is pinch myself in disbelief and go and paint in my studio. One of my challenges is getting over the fear that my artwork will go missing and not turn up in Prague on time, even though it is being organised by someone highly experienced in this area. Nevertheless I'm going to have a digital file with me of all the work I'd like to have in the show, so in the event of the worst case scenario (ie my work being damaged or lost) at least I'll be able to get digital prints made and exhibit those!
