New Profession is the short story of Marion a young naive girl whose disappointment in her life choices embarks her on a journey of self-discovery.

This film is full of twists and turns, laughter and drama that will keep you watching from start to finish.

Does Marion make the right choice in the end... and become who she is meant to be?

 

If you want to go to heaven sometimes you need to pay a visit to hell first.

 

New Profession is a short film being shot by Waters Productions in the Newcastle region in August 2011. It will involve a talented local crew  and is being cast with professional actors from  Dungog, Sydney and Newcastle.

We have a great number of industry professionals from cast to crew helping to capture this film. Our aim is to send it to New York next year in the 'NO LIMITS' fall festival. The film will be cut to a 30 minute film for this and a 7 minute for Tropfest 2012. Please support to help us pay the actors and for professional colour grading and editing  for post production. We have hungry mouths to feed over the 4 days and some crew expenses.

Debra is a talented film-maker whose business Waters Productions creates multi-media advertisements with creativity and flair. Her business also offers a variety of filming opportunities from stage plays to school concerts. More information can be viewed via this link.

Debra has been involved in short film projects over the past 10 years  making it to the top 10  twice in Newcastle  Herald 2 minute show down. This is her first project as co-writer and Director.

Debra writes in a monthly e-magazine called HAVAMAG which launched in February 2011 offering tips and tricks to being your own filmmaker and how to create the best advertisements for your business.

Luke is a film maker with a Diploma of Screen Production. Luke produces corporate videos, commercials and live shows. He also has a graphic artist business. Luke has a cinematic eye and brings a creativity to this project that will give every shot its best. Luke prides himself on creating screen shots that are unique and artistic which fits perfectly for the screen adaptation of New Profession.

ICON founder Karen Lis, brings knowledge from a career that spans over 20 years as a makeup artist for film, TV, editorial and theatre, with over 10 years experience as an educator to the beauty industry, working both locally and internationally, including working as a consultant for the prestigious brand Dior.   In 2007 Karen came back to her hometown of Newcastle and has set up ICON School of Makeup.

As an actor/extra David has completed numerous short courses and appeared in 7 feature films, 3 TV series, 10 TV Commercials, over 20 short films and numerous theatre productions.  He is most well-known as one of the piano players (‘Sniff & Stiff’) on a late night TV Commercial. Dave will be Gaff on New Profession and brings years of industry knowledge and experience to the role.

 

Val Haydon

Val has been involved in many productions over the years, she has a great eye for detail and knows the importance of framing and continuity. Val has worked as a directors assistant and  in production roles. Val has done numerous speaking roles in corporate video's and tv presenting with guest appearances in reality tv and panelist for a talent show in London. She has also been in a Ozzie Osbourne music video as an paid extra in London.

Dwuan brings years of professional experience to the crew of New profession. Dwuan is a well sort after continuitist and has worked on many feature and short films. Dwuan directed his first film last year which he also wrote.

Fern is an artist and film maker. She specialises in creating original art, graphic design and illustration as well as art direction and storyboards for films. Fern exhibits art work regularly and has worked on numerous film and documentary productions.

 

Neal Boyce

Sound & Music score

Neal is an accomplished singer/songwriter and musician. He is a gifted piano player and composer. He was the musical director for Kings Theatre in Newcastle and has recently partnered with  a young  vocolist Kurt Sullivan to form the band 'Naked Faith', they will be releasing a cd in 2012. To coincide with the short film  we aim to offer  all sound tracks in the film as full length versions on a cd to purchase.

Michael Winchester, a seasoned Actor and owner of Purple Top Productions, is well know for his roles in A Country Practice, Sons and Daughters, Prisoner and the mini series Brides of Christ. Michael also has recently featured in his own film called Bathing Franky starring Henri Szeps, Maria Venuti, Shaun Goss and Bree Deresborough.

Recently played the lead role in a feature film ‘My Sisters & I’, Nicole has done various TV Commercials, short films, and appeared on A Current Affair and Kerrie Anne Kennerly show.  As the Mother Superior in a High Class Escort Agency, Nicole brings a classy, busty and beautiful demeanour to the role.
