Drugs Not Thugs

----------------------
What's it about.
----------------------
Drugs Not Thugs; A young pacifist enters the drug business and discovers how difficult it is to harm no one. This story is told retrospectively after a murder.
Influenced by Pulp Fiction, hidden object games, and Training Day, we wanted to tell a crime-story that could go in any direction. We wanted to tell it in a non-linear way. This happens to be about drugs.
This is Declan Cole-Flynn's first independent short film.
How the entire production came about is a long story of it's own -- which we will touch in production videos in the next 45 days (Stay tuned!!), so we'll just share our timeline and get to the gist.
TIMELINE 2014:
January - Scripting began.
April - 3rd Draft was read at Cold Reading Series (April) based in Melbourne.
May - Casting began
June - Rehearsals
July/August - Filming of this humongous short film. 9 days shoot. 14 scenes. 9 locations.
September - Editing / sound-mixing began... which brings us to --
How The Funds Will Be Used

--------------------------
How we will do it.
--------------------------
Drugs Not Thugs has been filmed and is now under-going post-production -- sound mixing, colour grading, and funding for festival circulation. The funds you help us raise for this campaign will be used in the following:
SOUND- a great portion of post-production involves sound -- sound mixing, levelling, and ADR (automated dialogue replacement).
COLOUR GRADING- being that we shot over 9 days with three different cinematographers, three styles (you may notice in our early trailer) -- we need to create a consistent and balanced feel through the entire 15-minute film. Film grain, colour grading, and editing for this film isn't easy. But we feel there's an amazing end product to this with your help.
MUSIC- when we think of a great film like Star Wars, or a show like Breaking Bad, we find ourselves singing the theme-songs after, right? We're bringing a great composer and amazing sound engineer -- Roger Morgan. Not to reveal too much, but there's an awesome bass guitar score being put together for an important scene. (And much more of course)

PRODUCTION COST- much of this film has been thanks to the generous and talented support from the cast and crew, who donated their time and energy to this production. Costs of rental for the C100, props (some of which can be seen in our REWARDS), a weapons-master, food, and general expenses hasn't been cheap. But collectively, we believe there is a great film in this. Your contribution would help with the completion of this project -- and much appreciated!
FESTIVAL CIRCUIT/SCREENINGS- As well as an international and world-wide festivals, to garner some successes -- We want to bring it to you!!
The Challenges
Challenges we encountered were getting locations (we had 9 locations) and filming in them, organising and producing across 9 days of shooting -- for a short film!! So this is big for us. And with your help, we can get this film to you.
We aim to hit festivals all around the world, so wherever you are, an awesome local from Melbourne, or New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Seattle, or Shepparton, we want to bring this film to a city near You!!
And with any contribution you bring comes amazing rewards, including
-a big hug and our thanks
-signed copies of the DVDs
-invites to the premiere
-and special props (LITERALLY) from our set
(The full list can be seen on the right column)
