Domini Forster

Hi there! My name is Domini Forster. I’m an independent singer songwriter and recording artist.

Maybe we met at a show I played in Melbourne, or out on the road with Lior over the years, or maybe you’re a member of my family (hey mum!) but regardless, thank you for being a part of this wild and wonderful journey of art-making that is my life.

It’s been a high-contrast few years (including months of lockdown and a magical 60-show tour with Lior to launch our duo EP) but now...I’m very excited to announce that I’m recording a new solo album! And I’m launching this campaign to ask for your support to help me finish it.

I’ve been writing and collecting new songs for a few years, and recently (with the support of Creative Australia) I’ve been recording them with my favourite producer Lachlan Carrick and brilliant multi-instrumentalist Josh Barber. They've helped me take these intimate stories and build a shimmering, intricate textural universe around them.

So a good chunk of the songs are already in the bag and I’m so excited to share them with you. You can have a sneaky listen to a couple in the video at the top of this page if you're curious.

There's still a lot of work to be done to finish the album and release it into the world, and that's why I've created this campaign. I’m reaching out for your support to fund the recording and mixing of the final few songs, the mastering of the full record, and the creation of artwork and video clips in collaboration with some fabulous creatives. This will include @pencilpineart who illustrated the beautiful 'Honest Mistake' lyric video for Lior and me, featured in the pics below:

As you probably know, recorded music doesn't make much money for independent artists these days, so albums are becoming more and more a labour of love. The full cost of the album project is just over $34,000 (yikes, albums aren’t cheap - especially if you're paying all the participating artists properly for their time). This budget includes producer and musician fees, studio hire, mixing and mastering fees, CD manufacture, photography and artwork, film clips, and promotion. I've received funding from Creative Australia (which covers just over half of the project costs) and I'm putting in the money to cover promotion and partially fund the film clip and lyric videos. 

I’ve created this campaign to raise $8,500 to cover the remaining expenses as follows:

$2,500 towards recording and mixing the final songs and mastering the full album 

$2,500 towards film clip and lyric video for singles

$1,500 towards photography and album artwork

$1,575 towards CD manufacture

$425 to cover Pozible's fee (5% of funding goal)
