What is IRON MAN?
IRON MAN is Australia’s premiere pop-up shop window ironing strip-show! Occupying windows in both Melbourne and Perth IRON MAN will be offering his services to the people of the streets. Pimped by the enigmatic and exploitative Miss Fanny La Rue, all you have to do is negotiate a price & item of clothing with Fanny and IRON MAN will strip & steam for YOU. Expect erotic bicep flexing, exotic bend & snaps and unparalleled ironing! Everything goes… and everything is ironed.
Created by award winning performance artist and pornography studies graduate Dosh Luckwell, IRON MAN will be a tongue in cheek exploration into the sex industry and how we understand the gender roles within it. What happens when we put a man behind the rose-tinted glass? Is he empowered or disempowered? Is he expressing masculinity or femininity? Is he gay or straight?
“I donʼt have the answers to theses questions”, says Luckwell.
“I simply want to create the scenario and see how people respond to it… Whatʼs more, Iʼm a starving artist and need to earn my keep!”
Now thatʼs hot-pressed!
IRON MAN will be performed as part of the MIDSUMMA Festival in Melbourne in January and the FRINGE WORLD Festival in Perth in February.
Why do we need the $$$$?
We have NO money and so we are looking to Pozible to help Kathryn and I tour the show!
The money will be spent on:
Flights for Kathryn and I (Perth to Melbourne return) - $950
To build the set - $450
Production and distribution of Promo materials - $600
= $2000 Total.
IRON MAN has already been accepted into both Midsumma and Fringe World. If we don't raise the funds Dosh may actually have to sell his body on the streets... Which, who knows, may or may not work out to be good research for the show...
