Wretch is four-piece grind/death/thrash/[insert-another-sub-genre-here-core]/METAL!!! band based in Canberra. Since forming in 2011, Wretch has gone from strength to strength. The live assault has been refined by frequent performances, including a handful of international supports, a number of successful festivals and playing with damn near every metal, hardcore and punk band in the country.

The Senseless Violence EP (http://fvckingshitcvnt.bandcamp.com/) was self-released in early 2012 and received positive critical reception.

In the same DIY spirit, we’re recording our full-length album, Because You’re Worthless, intended for self-release in April. We’re doing everything ourselves as far as we’re able: recording (with some able assistance from Kurt Neist’s Metalworx), design, distribution, promotion, video clips … everything we can.

We are inviting you to help support the making of this new album. Think of it as being like an extreme metal arts patron, supporting a new world where the record companies and shitty middlemen have all fucked off home and the music lovers have taken over.

WHERE PLEDGE MONEY WILL GO

To make the album we need the minimum funding target to pay for drum recording (the only recording we can’t do without outside assistance), mastering, and CD pressing and freight. None of the pledge money actually goes to the band.

Because we’re doing this DIY, we avoid the costs normally involved with engineers, mixers, graphic design, distribution, etc. which would usually take around $15,000 to do on a shoe string budget.

Our minimum budget is $1,000 to get the album finished and available for purchase/download, but any any extra pledges will go towards the cost of making a music video, printing new shirts, and other marketing activities.

This is crucial to the success of the project but we didn’t want to go for too much in case we don’t make the budget and get nothing towards it.

To the right of your screen, there are different levels of donations that can be made in exchange for the rewards listed. We have put up a couple of basic packages that are essentially “pre-purchase the album”. The money for that covers the cost of a download or a normal CD plus a bit for postage and handling. The bulk of the money is going directly towards the production of the CD and you are actually enabling us to make the album in the first place.
