UPDATE!!: We go to print today - unfortunately, $15 pledges made today (Mon, the last day of our campaign) will be too late for an acknowledgement in the journal. As we've hit our target, we'd suggest just pledging the $10 or $9 from here on in.
NEWS FLASH!: We're launching at Loop Bar on Sat the 2nd of August - details below.
NEWS FLASH FLASH!!: Zero Flag are now playing some tunes at the launch, so come down and feast your ears!
Bordertown Journal is gearing up for the much awaited Issue II. For those new to us, we are a group of creative writing students from the University of Melbourne. We wanted to create an accessible and exciting publication, that would create a space for up-and-coming young writers to experience the editing process and see their own polished work published. We accept submissions of fiction, poetry, illustration and photography as a delicious ménage of creative output from new and young talent
Bordertown is a neo-noir themed publication that is fascinated with subjective realities, unstable identities and the morally ambiguous. Currently we are budgeting for fifty to sixty pages of content, but depending on the number of quality submissions we receive, and the success of our crowd-funding campaign this is liable to increase.
Launch
Date and Party:
It's official, we're launching on Saturday the 2nd of August at Loop Bar! Come down, pick up your copy of Bordertown, buy a drink and destabilise your identity with our staff and contributors. Issue II features short fiction, poetry, illustrations and graphic art which deal with subjective realities, the morally ambiguous and the noir. Fix yourself a drink with our femme-fatale guide to pulp cocktails and alcoholic debauchery. Utensils not included.

Your contribution
will be used for an initial print run and postage, as well as helping
us to host a bigger and better launch party. After these costs are
covered, we will use any additional funds to appropriately thank our
contributors. As a
not-for-profit and volunteer-run journal, any loose change will be
spent on drinks for our thirsty supporters.
We're keen to expand our audience, through stocking the magazine in independant outlets, and have set targets for a longer print run. In Issue I much of the creative content was produced by the Bordertown staff, as well as a significant contribution from friends and local creatives. This time around, our focus is very much on publishing the work of unknown writers, and working with them to hone their craft. As such, the editing and curating process will be much more demanding; a challenge we anticipate and look forward to.
