eerf Dance is a funky new outdoor community dance event and celebration held at Kirra Hill on the southern Gold Coast.
An opportunity for some good ol' fashion groovin under the stars to celebrate the changing seasons and this amazing community and place that is our home. eerf Dance is facilitated to create space for connection and support for everyone to get up and boogieing. Bring Gramma and the kids - there's space for everyone on the dance floor :)
It is a drug and alcohol free event. Delicious raw snack and drinks are provided by the diva of raw nutrition - Rah Poolman from Sprouting Smiles - with time to sup a chai and chat after all the dancing.
After the inagural summer solstice eerf Dance, Meredith Elton and Louise Mariarty, conscious movement facilitators (the best kind of facilitators;)), are looking for support to ensure that the six events planned for 2012 are super successful and powerful opportunities for people to come together and dance up this place!
We would love to see eerf Dance become a regular community gathering and signature event for the newly opened and beautifully restored Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre.
We need help covering the hire fee, security, DJ and front of house for the next three events, after which we believe this event will be self sustaining!
By becoming a sponsor and contributing what you can, you support eerf Dance through its infancy to become a self sustaining event. Yay!
The vibe of the first event was fabulously friendly, open and playful. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this community and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this event as a regular fixture at Kirra Hill...xxx
The events planned for 2012 are:
- Autumn Equinox, Friday March 23nd
- Winter Solstice, Friday June 22nd
- Full Moon, Friday August 3rd
- Spring Equinox, Saturday September 22nd
- Full Moon, Friday October 26th
- Summer Solstice, Friday December 21st
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
eerf Dance is a creative collaboration between Louise Moriarty and Meredith Elton who met doing circus in the desert a long time ago and were fatefully re-united by a stray dog at the Swell Sculpture festival!
Louise Moriarty is a community cultural development worker, circus artist and educator of diverse programs and projects. She is deeply committed to restoring tribal consciousness on a global scale. See Tribal love chapter out of the Pebbles in the Pond anthology -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MepRHQxOwi8. Louise has worked for 30 years with diverse community groups to create a sense of unity and freedom to pursue and fulfill our deepest longings and dreams.
Meredith Elton (
meredithelton.com.au) is a Gold Coast dance artist and facilitator with a passion for place and community. She has been creating, performing, researching and teaching movement for over 15 years and believes in holding space for slowing down, breathing and coming home to the fullness and creativity of our own experience. She also feels that doing this
as a community is a lot of fun and is essential to our vitality and sustainability as a community.
