Project Outline:
A theatricalisation of the performance poetry of Finn O’Branagáin, Territorian poet and playwright, incorporating original songs by Michael McStay and physical motifs created and performed by Benjamin Winckle and Eleanor Stankiewicz.

This is a show for people with first butterflies, scorned lovers, and those with footprints on their heart. For doe-eyed romantics and guilty heartbreakers. For lovers of language and skin under soft light.

Her Lips leave evidence on cups

and collars.

Sometimes two scarlet koi,

chasing each other in silent courtship.

Sometimes a blood-smudge,

a hurried not-quite-cleaned up

motion very like murder.

--

She stares at me from glimpses in mirrors.

Moments when I’m not entirely on my guard.

Sometimes a flash in his eye

when he leaves them unfocused.

Socrates said,“every pleasure and pain is a nail to rivet the soul to the body and to weld them together” 2880 Minutes Late documents each nail riveting the soul to the body, and what happens to that body, and that soul. It is an exploration of the inner world of waiting. Two voices weave a non-linear story as they deconstruct a relationship from the inside, start to finish. This is a personal story made public.

Watch this to be surprised by what words can do. It’s poetry but not like in your English class. To recognise your own hurts and loves reflected in the performer’s body. To have a group experience in a room of strangers. Exploring themes of lost love, living in limbo, lies, danger and deceit,2880 Minutes Latewas written out searching for a remedy to the emptiness that comes with the loss of human interaction and missed connections, the loneliness that can come from isolation or being out of sync with the world.

Blending physical theatre and performance poetry, 2880 Minutes Late is an intimate work about intimate moments. With movement ranging from heightened pedestrian to breathtakingly stylised, the performers ambidextrously weave the poetic text into crackling dialogue, matching solo and duet physical performance. This is a small-scale work, with two performers doing devised movements to original poetry and music composed especially for the work.

In 2013 the show will have a season at the Adelaide Fringe Festival at The Soul Box, The Sydney Fringe Festival and The NIDA Student festival. We are also applying for the 2013 Queensland Poetry Festival, and The Village Festival, Melbourne.

What we need funding for:

We need help bringing the performers to Adelaide!
The $3000 we are hoping to raise will help cover:
Flights, fees for venue and registration, photography and printing and marketing costs.
It will mean our show has the best possible start, and will be able to reach more people.
It will mean we can fly to Adelaide with peace of mind!

We already have a script, chosen from poems that fit a theme, we have music that has been composed specifically for the show, and we are rehearsing movement and performance as you read this.
The next thing we need is to get to Adelaide! And you can help us.

Please help support developing artists as they start they journey to creating new works!

Love from Eleanor, Finn, Ben and Michael.
