BAD DADDY - a short film (drama)
A story about a mother and her 6-year old son, Noah who will do anything to stop his daddy from disappearing.

“What will happen to Daddy if it rains?”, Noah obsesses in this thriller that’ll leave you guessing till the end.

The film has been shot with funds secured from Metro Screen and Screen NSW. We have a very strong and powerful fine cut that’ll be screening on February 26 at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington with the 10 other films that were selected for the highly competitive Metro Story to Screen program. With feedback from this screening, we plan to improve the film.
We also need to complete the sound design, sound mix, colour grade and titles before it’s truly ready to be distributed around the world to film festivals and broadcast on television and eventually on the world wide web!
We have some great rewards if you support this project including credits on the film and special edition photographic signed prints from one of Australia's leading documentary photographers Stephen Dupont (who is also producing this film). Below is a picture of Stephen's print we are offering - a tribal portrait from his recent Harvard Peabody project in PNG.

We’ve been very fortunate to have a fantastic team contribute to the film so far. In the lead role of mum we have Alice McConnell, an accomplished actor (NIDA graduate) and considered one of Australia’s finest actresses. Alice recently starred in the lead role of the feature film ‘Making Venus’, which premiered at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals and is currently touring the international festival circuit.

The role of Noah is played by newcomer Jack Logan. While his first film role, Jack has literally grown up on the theatre stage with his acting coach mother Shannon who runs the local drama group ‘Theatre Max’. Jack at age 7 was an absolute trooper working late into the night and in constant rain. No doubt we will be seeing lots more of Jack on the big screen in years to come.

Adam Szudrich is an award-winning playwright and has been collaborating with Elizabeth since 2010 on a number of off-beat stories, mainly tragic-comedies. In 2013, they won the audience vote at Short ‘n Sweet for a play Adam wrote ‘Enough Hair’.

Our DOP Kamil Domaradzki is a recent graduate of AFTRS but filmmaking runs through his veins growing up with Polish parents who are both filmmakers. His father directed the acclaimed Australian feature film “Lillian’s Story.” Our talented production designer Bethany Ryan, also an AFTRS graduate worked hard designing the set and is highly sought after.

On Sound, we were blessed with the super-talented Sophie Raymond (co-director, sound, co-editor of the acclaimed feature film Mrs Carey’s Concert). Sophie brought great skill and joy on the set, and we can’t wait to hear what she does with the sound design.

Our entire crew worked incredibly hard over several days of shooting and generously donated their time to the film.
.

In a nutshell, we have a very powerful fine-cut edit but still need funding to complete the sound design, sound mix, colour grade and marketing of the film. We estimate the bare minimum we need is $4000 but if we had $12,000, it would certainly make a difference to the production values. Either way, we are committed to making a great film that will travel far and wide and would love you all to come on board for the ride!
