THE EXHIBITION
'Mapping the Quiet Mind', is inspired by the idea of the kinds of vessels required to negotiate the internal landscape or architecture of the mind. The forms I am creating are drifters, journeyers. They are curious, enquiring, dynamic receptacles, vessels for oscillation. They are instruments of invention, forging new strands of connection, negotiating and re-constructing the architecture of the mind.
I am interested in investigating the current system of thinking, changing that paradigm, looking at a new architecture of the brain and these little vessels are able to help negotiate that new architecture. Challenging and building new constructs, asking how we make sense of the world, at the same time postulating over existing systems of governance – even if only in our internal worlds of thinking.
Cardboard has been my signature material, however, I will be extending my investigation and embodiment of ideas through exploring materials and processes of a more permanent nature. I have been invited by Hinge Gallery to exhibit and I hope for the first time to incorporate 3D Printing, Drawing and Etching into this exhibition.

THE MASTER CLASS
I will be running 2 Master Classes as an adjunct to the exhibition throughout January/February, one on the Gold Coast and one in Brisbane. I have often worked within an educational setting and I embrace opportunities to pass on my skill and knowledge as well as support people to find a connection with their own creative process. Workshop dates are still to be confirmed, the full day workshop will cover both skill development and practical work, facilitated by an Art’s educator and myself. Participants will walk away with a small-medium scale sculpture of their own creation.

AS A INDEPENDENT ARTIST who has worked SOLELY in the ARTS for OVER A DECADE this CAMPAIGN will allow me to INVESTIGATE new MATERIALS, PRESENT, MARKET and DOCUMENT my work, and thus SUPPORT me take my ART PRACTICE to ANOTHER LEVEL.
