It’s been over 4 years since my award-winning debut album was released. Many of you have been asking about my next album. Well, it’s halfway there but I need your help to finish it!

18 months ago, I played a gig with three musicians – Scott Griffiths (piano), Jonathan Zion (bass) and Darryn Farrugia (drums) – and it changed my world. We realised straight away that it was a very special combination. We sounded like a band that had been playing together for years and that’s rare.



We’ve been playing together since then, deepening our musical connection and developing a unique sound. A few months ago, after a few hurdles, I began recording my second album with Scott, Jonathan and Darryn at the ABC Studios in Melbourne.





The band is sounding amazing. My dear friend (and one of the world’s best didgeridoo players), William Barton, is playing on one track, and strings have been arranged for a couple others. I am incredibly happy with how it’s coming together.



The album, which will be titled Oranges & Sunshine, has a number of jazz standards, an arrangement of a piece by the late, great Peter Sculthorpe, and our take on a well-known pop tune. Most importantly, there will be greater focus on my original compositions.

We are now ready to get the album mixed and mastered, the artwork produced, and the CDs pressed.

I’m not very good at asking for help or favours. But when I believe in something as much as I do in this album, I think it’s important to tell others about it. By contributing, pre-ordering an album, or even just promoting this Pozible campaign among your friends, you’re helping to create something that otherwise wouldn’t happen. Not only are you helping me immeasurably, you’ll be forever part of this project and a proud supporter of new music.

So far, I’ve paid for the hire of ABC studios to get the tracks down, and paid the string players. I am looking to raise funds to: (i) pay the other musicians (who have donated their time so generously), (ii) mix and master the album, (iii) get the album artwork designed, (iv) get CDs pressed, and (v) pay for administration costs (including Pozible fees) and postage costs.

My (hopefully not too ambitious) target is $7900. If the campaign is successful, the funds will be used as follows:

$1500 – pay the musicians (piano, bass, drums, and didgeridoo) This is a very small ask given the amount of time and skill they have put into rehearsing and recording. 
$2000 – mixing
$1500 – mastering
$2000 – CD pressing
$400 – album artwork & design
$500 – administration costs (including Pozible fees and postage)

I will bear any additional administration, promotion, distribution and/or related costs not covered above.

After the album is released in early 2015, the band and I intend to tour Australia. If we raise over the target of $7900.00, excess funds will go towards travel, accommodation and other tour-related costs.

It's a big ask to raise this sort of money, especially this close to Christmas. I am relying a lot on your generosity. However, I am sure that you will love this album!

The musicians, artisits, audio engineers and others involved in this project are all at the top of their game. With such a great team, I'm confident that this project will be relatively hassle-free.

I completely understand if you are not in a position to contribute. A great way you could still help me out, without spending a cent, is to spread the word about my Pozible campaign.
