The Show:
Two believers holed up in a cellar, waiting… for The End. Desperately trying to make sense of their situation, they are alternately caught in useless struggles to save themselves or accept the inevitable.
An ode to our never-ending fascination with the end of the world, Good Evening Apocalypse toys with the fear and anticipation of not knowing what’s going to happen when the final countdown runs out.
Combining dance, sentient computer monitors and copious spillage of dairy products, Good Evening Apocalypse is a darkly playful show about clocks ticking to the beat of our attempts to slow the ultimate countdown.

Who are we?
First, let’s introduce ourselves – I’m Emi Forster and I make dance work under the name The Movement, which kind of covers all the group and solo work I do. Joining me this time round is dancer extraordinaire Matt Cornell, who is super-skilled in both contemporary and hip hop styles and has creativity popping out his eyeballs in the form of music composition, photography and anything else you could think of. We’re also working with composer Austin Har who amongst richly-textured soundscapes will be dropping some dubstep (which we’ve decided is the music of the apocalypse) and have been lucky enough to have previously been joined in the studio by dancers Angela Goh and Joshua Thomson, who are going to hang around so we can continue to steal their ideas.
What are we actually doing?
We will be presenting Good Evening Apocalypse at PACT centre for emerging artists for a one-week season in April. Prior to this we’re taking two weeks in the space to finish creating the show and make sure it’s in super condition before we present it to actual people.
We’ve been really lucky to have the extensive support of PACT centre for emerging artists, who are giving us loads of in-kind support with the space and admin and have actually been supporting this project since its first development as part of their Vacant Room program back in 2011. This means that we have some serious muscle behind us to make this happen. As well as that we’ve been supported by Queen Street Studio and youMove, who have contributed space and performance opportunities, so there’s a lot of material there. After all this time we’re super excited that it’s going to get out of our heads and in front of an audience!

The money….
Unfortunately for us we live in the real world, and that means we need real money to make things happen. Your donation will help us reach our goal of $3000, which we will put towards:
- $2000: Artist fees so all of us can do this and still pay the rent;
- $650: Hire of things we will need – when you want to display your video elements on computer monitors AND have them hanging from the ceiling it’s not cheap;
- $350: Promotional efforts so we can get audiences in, mainly so they can see our efforts but also so that we can make ends meet with box office income
Why support us?
Number one, because we desperately need your help. The project will go ahead no matter what, but it will be with our own money and we don’t have a lot of that.
You’ll also be supporting young Australian artists make awesome new work at a really important stage in their developing careers… so when you see our names in lights ten years from now, you can know you made that happen.
