HELP A CLOWN!

 To complete a

Masters Degree in 'Ensemble-based Physical Theater' at

Dell'Arte International, North California.

I have been invited back to study in the USA and to be a part of a Masters Degree in Ensemble-based Physical Theater. I will be THE ONLY Australian with a degree from this school and possibly, a degree in this field

This is an amazing, life changing opportunity! I will be continuing my study with 10 other performers, continuously creating work and further developing all of my performance skills (more clowning!). The program involves focus study in: Melodrama, Tragedy, Clown, Character Studies, Story telling, Community based programs and much more.

I believe in this project so much that I have sold most of my personal belongings and am selling my house,

AND

I am SO close to securing enough funds for this project, all I need is another $2,300 to cover my flights and insurance.

SO I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

ABOUT ME: As some of you might already know (and for those who do not!), I am a Hobart based comedic performer who produces her own work, performs locally, national and internationally and has just finished a Professional Training Program at Dell'Arte International in California. Read more in my bio below and you can check out some of my characters at this link:

Some nice things other people have said about me:

'Madam Goulash always thrills her audience'. Sauce Magazine

'Emily Newton is delicious'. Robert Jarman, The Mercury

'Newton as Maurice was brilliant; the characterization, right on the mark'. Rachel Shae, Warp Magazine

'Richard is an incarnation of Emily Newton - a delight in drag and comedic theater'. Katherine Farrel, Warp Magazine

'Madam Goulash doing anything is funny'. Mick Lowenstien, Sauce Magazine

really believe that this opportunity to return to America and complete a Masters degree in this area will change my life and have a huge impact  in the Australian theater community. Not only will I be training to become the best performer I can be, I will be continuing to develop my skills so that I can teach others what I have learnt. Imagine having a 'master' of physical theater in your town!

Here is some more information about the school and the Masters Program:

THE SCHOOL: The school itself is a unique place. It has a very colorful history and has been a place of learning and insight for many amazing performers.

This is the link: www.dellarte.com  I encourage you to look at it!

Dell’Arte (building pictured below) is situated in the rural town of Blue Lake, in Northern California near the Pacific Ocean, in the heart of the Redwood country. This intimate community offers the opportunity to work in a nature-rich setting, free from urban distractions. The ruralness is a huge strength in this project, as my course of training will be intensive and I will not have to split my focus with too many social obligations, family or the added stress of city life.

THE PROGRAM: The Masters program is an intensive professional development in performance and theater making at a school that is internationally recognized. There is no training similar or equal to this offered in Australia and no Masters programs that exist in this area of study. The program is designed to train "the next generation of ensemble theater artists.

Persuing this will allow me to study with world-class lecturers and performers, which will help hone my own skills. I will gain collaboration experience working with local, national and international artists. After the program, I will be able to move into the professional theater world with new strengths, connections and inspiration.

Training and performing at Dell’ Arte will give me the oppurtunity to collaborate with high caliber teachers and students, experience life in another culture, and represent Australia and, more locally, Tasmania, in the global network.
