Karibu Markets will be providing a monthly event with everything you love about Melbourne and introducing an ethical spin on it. You don't have to change your lifestyle to support developing countries and we want to show you how this is possible.

With all the fun of a Sunday Market with clothes, arts and crafts, food and coffee we will also be supporting live local music to keep your ears entertained. Each month we will be providing information on a different global issue and at the end of the market all of our profits will go towards that issue.

This idea came about after our founder, Emily, took a life changing trip to Kenya. She wanted to support four women that she worked with, living with HIV in the Kibera Slums.

These are the women she worked with, that produce the beautiful bags.
At Karibu Markets we will take the typical Aussie mentality of giving everyone "a fair go" and apply it to a global scale. With a large society of consumers and an ever growing interest in international cultures Karibu Markets look at providing everyone with quality sourced goods that guarantee ethical processes are used throughout every step of production.

I believe that having a platform like this is important in Melbourne as it will not only support developing countries directly but will also increase awareness and start more conversations that otherwise might not happen. The more conversations we have, the smaller each issue will become.

At the end of the day dreaming is a human right, not a privilege. Being able to access your dreams should not be dependent on the shade of your skin or the environment you were born into.

Our dream is to allow future generations access to their dreams across the world. In order to start this movement we need your help.

We have been lucky enough to receive alot of services and goods (such as some printing costs) donated by different people and companies, however it there are still some expenses we're facing.

Here is the breakdown:

$1,700 Events Public Liability Insurance
$400 Rent, Music and Sound for the day
$300 Printing Flyers, Posters and Banners
$100 DIY Decorations

Total: $2,500

The rest of the money will come from personal income

Outside of starting up a small business the biggest challenge is ensuring we reach a large and broad enough market to spread the fairtrade message and gain support outside of the market. This can only be done as a collective of individuals working together
