Emma needs your support to mix and master her album, press records and launch her new songs into the world.

Based in Tasmania, Emma Anglesey’s music focuses on beginnings, and the landscapes she connects with. Emma approaches her music the same way she rushes through her world: with a seductive rhythm and physicality that makes you want to move, to focus and to begin. That energy fills her new album.

Watch and listen to the first single Bike from her new album!

Bike,
the first track from Emma’s upcoming album was released last year and two weeks later she was “Unearthed” by Triple J.  “Wow. We're going to have to learn how to pronounce your surname because I reckon we're going to be saying it a lot”, said Triple J presenter Kyran Wheatly.  Bike featured as “Best New Music” on Double J and the song was added to the station’s playlist. Triple J then picked up the track on a radio ad to promote Triple J Unearthed.

This national exposure drew the attention of actor and musician Guy Pearce who was looking for someone to support his first national album launch tour and working his way through a shortlist of Melbourne based Australian female singer-songwriters. After listening to Emma's music, Guy looked no further and invited her to support his national album launch tour. Together they played sold out shows at the Toff in Town in Melbourne and The Basement in Sydney.

After the tour Emma went on to play Launceston’s Basin Concert with Xavier Rudd and The Basics, Brain Ritchie’s MONA FOMA Jazz, The Marion Bay Falls Festival and most recently she supported Katie Noonan’s album launch.

When Emma released Bike, it was a *test* of the new music she was making with Melbourne based producer Josh Barber. Emma and Josh met in 2013 when they were both performing at Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania. Josh is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist and has played with lots of bands including for Goyte, Colour Bomb, Little Stevies and Jane Tyrrell to name a few. Both Emma and Josh were so excited by the result of their collaboration on the song Bike that they decided to embark on making a record.

Emma wrote around 30 more songs using sticks, claps, singing and guitar and sent the best tracks to Josh and he wrote new parts with real instruments and worked on the arrangements. Together they’ve narrowed it down to 10 songs that they think fit really well together as a record.

Emma and Josh took the songs into the studio and all the recording and tracking has been done.  Now what is left is mixing, mastering and pressing the record, making film clips and other promotion for the album - and that's where you come in!

How The Funds Will Be Used

Emma is asking for you to help her raise $10,000.

Your contribution will go toward the following costs:

- Mixing and Mastering of her new record: $5000
- Pressing the record to vinyl and cds: $2000
- Filming and promoting a new film clip to help get the record into the world: $3000

Emma has already put over $10,000 of her own money into tracking the record, and making and releasing the Bike film clip. She will spend more of her own money on releasing and touring this album and so anything you can contribute will go a long way.

The Challenges

The parts and arrangements that Josh has written for Emma's songs are multilayered and complex, and will require mixing and mastering engineers of the best calibre. That's why Emma and Josh have decided to work with Nic Lamb and Lachlan Carrick on the mixing and mastering of the record.

Nic is a fantastic Melbourne based artist well known about town for writing, producing and playing with a diverse list of artists such as Brightly, Yuko Nishiyama & Owl Eyes. He also produces, engineers, mixes and masters music including his own solo project DXHeaven which has enjoyed attention by Triple J in recent months.

Lachlan has been recording, mixing and mastering records for the past 20 years. He is the current Front Of House engineer for Gotye and also tours with multi-award winning group Back To Back Theatre. Other live mixing credits include Angus & Julia Stone, The Cat Empire, Lior, Julia Stone, The Necks and Katie Noonan. His studio mixing credits include Spender, Colour Bomb, Gotye, Lior, Mojo Juju, Elixir, The Hello Morning, CW Stoneking and more.

Together Nic and Lachlan have the ability to do a first class job with the mixing and mastering Emma and Josh's complex and sophisticated songwriting.
