'End of the Line' short film
Two deadbeat barflies go to extreme lengths to hustle a man, they believe, harbors a duffle bag full of stolen money. But are they right?
Our goal with this short film is simple: to make it Entertaining as Hell. Larger than life? You bet. A little weird and unhinged? Yeah, maybe. A metaphor for my own deep-seated insecurities and sense of otherness? What? No! Who said that? Get out. Pay $50 and get out.
Who let my psychiatrist in here...
Anyway, we've got a really fun script. It's a dark comedy, with characters our actors are chomping at the bit to sink their teeth into. We've lined up a stellar cast and crew so far, but we need your help to do this right!
CHARACTERS
Kim: dolled-up, fake-tanned and pushing forty. Rough as guts but with sharp entrepreneurial instincts.
Nick: Kim's slovenly boyfriend and partner in crime. What he lacks in smarts he makes up for in commitment. He'll do anything for a dollar.
Michael: young, trendy, a man of mystery. What is he doing in this Western Sydney dive? Waiting for his boyfriend? Or his his accomplice?
Other characters include a bartender, two police officers (one already cast), a homeless man and background barflies.
CAST AND CREW
Actor, Singer, Comedian, Improviser, Musician, Catherine Crowley has stacks of experience working in commercials, short-film, music film clips and theatre. When she's not on set or on a stage she performs with her music comedy duo ‘Sparrow-Folk’. Very playful, easy-going and fun to have on set. With her impro skills Catherine is capable of stepping away from the script if needed. Always interested in new projects and supportive of wild ideas.

Writer and Director
Shaun works as a Creative Director for a Sydney-based creative agency. Producing engaging stories and beautiful visuals is his bread and butter. Although most of the output from his day job needs to "toe the line" of "respectability" and "professionalism". So creating an irreverent, off-the-wall short film would be a dream. An outlet. Therapy if you will.
Director of Photography
Bradley is a Sydney-based Director of Photography working internationally across TV commercials, narrative story-driven content, and long-form travel documentaries. With a background in documentary, Bradley has a strong working knowledge of natural and constructed lighting and a willingness to move fast and embrace run-and-gun production. With an ability to scale commercial camera and lighting principles into smaller productions and teams, Bradley has built a portfolio full of energy, heightened emotion, and realistic beauty.
Budget Overview
This story can't be filmed in mum's backyard (sorry mum). It has very specific location requirements, which necessitate the hire of specialist equipment. Cast and crew will very kindly be donating their time. However it will be a travel job for some and we want to cover travel and out of pocket expenses. On top of equipment hire and travel expenses, there are the costumes, prop hire, catering, music licenses and more. Who knew making a movie costs money.
Listen, we're going through pandemics, destructive climate change, the threat of man-eating spiders...the point is there's a lot to be worried about these days, we all need something to look forward to. So if you're stuck in lockdown, and you're not going on extravagant overseas jaunts or hitting the up the night clubs like you normally do, hey, throw that spare money our way. Putting something into this will actually make you enjoy it more. That's simple psychology! And the more money you put in, the more enjoyment you'll get out of it. That's simple mathematics (I failed maths and psych class).
No Reward
Thank you! You'll be watching our movie on a train and you'll turn to the person next to you and say, "yeah...I, ah, was an investor on this film. No big deal." And they'll say, "Sorry, who are you?" And if that's not worth $10, I don't know what is.
