Where It All Started

When I was 6 years old, my family and I traveled around Australia in an old school bus that we converted into a motorhome. While we were traveling, we met a lot of people, some of whom were farmers. We stayed with them on their properties, and we learnt all about the ups and downs of gardening and farming.

Before I had all these experiences, I didn’t realise just how tough some farmers have it. They work so hard, yet still, so much is out of their control. For instance, we stayed on a farm in Central Queensland that hadn’t had rainfall in years!  Another case was when we stayed on a farm in New South Wales where hundreds of farmers lost all of their crops from huge floods. It’s crazy to think this is what thousands of Aussie farmers go through just to make a living.

After these experiences, I really wanted to try to do anything I could to help the farmers out and make kids realise how much they do. So my brother and I decided to make a card game all about gardening and farming.  With a bit of help from my Dad we started designing Epic Garden!

As much as educating kids on farming and gardening helps, I wanted to do a bit more to give the farmers an extra helping hand. So, when you buy a copy of Epic Garden, not only are you helping support me, but you will also be helping farmers suffering from the drougt, as I will be donating $1 of every game sold to farmers in need.

Designing the Game

Within weeks of coming up with the idea, the concept for the game took shape. My goal was to create an enjoyable game while also teaching kids about gardening and farming. I wanted to make it a physical game that would break away from digital screens, allowing kids to interact with each other and have fun without technology.

Once I sketched out the initial version, I shared it with friends and family. Much to my delight, their enthusiastic reactions motivated me to transform the idea into an actual game!

With my Dad’s help and a lot of research, I delved into the process of creating the game. After about a year of hard work, I managed to create the game and sent it off to have my first prototype printed! When I received it, I was so I excited, although not entirely satisfied with the quality. So, after another year of fine-tuning and experimenting with various printers, I kept going until I was completely satisfied with the final product.

My Goal

Now that my game is ready, my aim is to travel around to as many schools as possible, and show kids Epic Garden, so they become aware of the challenges farmers are facing. All while teaching kids about farming and gardening in a fun way.

JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS - When I put together my reward packages, I wanted something for everyone, so you can donate as little as $1 or stock up and buy a few sets to give away as Christmas Gifts.  The ideal bundle for this is the Garden Party as it comes gift wrapped in Christmas paper.  Or for schools or groups, you may wish to take advantage of my bulk bundles.

Either way, I would like to thank every single person who makes a pledge to help me turn my dream into a reality.
