What is Allsortz?

Allsortz is a female-led comedy series that follows Saoirse and Soph, two cash-strapped millennial besties, who fumble their way through adulthood. Saoirse, stubborn and paralysed by indecision, scrapes by as a mystery shopper, while her Irish parents (despite having little money) insist on paying for her Irish lessons, which she’s failing anyway, much to the amusement of her cousin who still calls her a plastic Irish. Soph, dreamy and a little clueless, works at the last-standing map vendor, with her Greek parents encouraging her to enjoy life. When they find out they’re being evicted, their attempts to make money or find a housemate spiral into chaos.

Allsortz is a comedy about two millennial women (one Greek, one Irish) navigating eviction, gig economy, and the pressures of their migrant families, all while searching for something more.

Ep 1 - the pilot

The pilot is shot! And what a ride…

• 61 people worked on the pilot
• 57% were experienced professionals from film, TV, and entertainment
• 43% were friends and family stepping up to support
• 10 emerging young actors gained their first on-set experience

Filming was deeply connected to my local community, with 5 of 7 locations based in Footscray. There was also some pretty spesh guest stars, such as Jenna Suffern, Aysha Buffet and a sneaky cameo from Melbourne’s Divorced Dad. The Yitonia team was kind enough to let me shoot infront of the iconic Hidden Hellenism mural in Yewers Street Footscray. 

Ep 2 - what you’ll be funding

Now I want to bring you Episode 2, a new chapter for these two loveable scrappy honeys, as they stumble into the world of 'wellness'. Ep 2 will mostly be shot in one main location requiring a 4-5 day block shoot. To do it properly, I’ll need to lock in the location for the entire shoot window (air bnb’s are spenno these days innit). The plan is to shoot in September, which is right around the corner, that’s why I need your help.

Where does your money go? 

Every dollar you contribute will go directly into bringing Episode 2 to life:

• Location hire – the biggest expense, as I need the perfect retreat house to match the script

• Crew payments – covering day rates and allowances, as we’ll be working away from home

• Catering – we’ve got a big team to keep fed and fuelled

• Cast fees – we’ll need to fill the retreat with a bunch of brilliant actors

• Post-production – editing, sound mixing and colour grading to give the ep a professional finish
