Foreign Brothers

Foreign Brothers is Yossi Arad (Israel), Arthur Tanzi (France), Dominic Wagner (USA) and Alexandre Schoelcher (UK), four friends who met in Melbourne in 2011, and share the same philosophy of collecting, documenting and promoting our community's diverse talents. Throughout the past year we have been actively involved in arts, curating and creating music, visuals and events, all the while nurturing an idea of producing a common project in which all these disciplines would be combined into a singular experience.



Co-presented by Melbourne Music Week, and supported by the City of Melbourne, the Cultural Oasis Laneway Party, is the realization of all these efforts. By combining the work of some of the most talented international visual artists, deejays/producers, performance artists and live musicians residing in Melbourne, we will bring our audience into the creative heart of the city and deepen their awareness of Melbourne's emerging multi-cultural identity.

The project is especially significant to us as it represents our first major opportunity to express our absolute appreciation and respect for a city that has welcomed us with open arms since our arrival. Our goal for the event is to provide our audience with an unforgettable evening of art and entertainment, and to inspire them to pursue their own creative ambitions.

Our priority for this event is the art, and showing our audience the best time possible. As we are operating off a limited budget, we are currently struggling with a couple production costs. Having already invested $2,000 ourselves, along with $4,500 we have raised through sponsorship and donations, we have almost got everything covered. However, we require an extra $1,000 to help us pay for infrastructure on the evening. This includes:

- Stage set up ($400 approx.)
- Lighting ($250 approx.)
- Sound technicians ($350 approx.)

There are obviously corners that can be cut, however in no way do we want to compromise the quality of the evening, and therefore if we can reach our $1,000 target, we are confident this won't be the case.

Our main risk is weather on the day of the event. Although live art and a DJ booth will be set up inside the Gallery One Three space, the focal point of our event will be the projections and performance taking place in the laneway. Therefore should it rain, we will have to be prepared to carry out the necessary measures to ensure that the party can continue.

All these issues have been planned out, and are incorporated into our infrastructure production costs.
