Education in Malaysia, particularly High School education is not delivering entrepreneurial thinking young individuals that the country needs. Students are forced to memorize theories and regurgitate them on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

I should know, I was from that high school system. When I entered, into university I was introduced to project based learning which really inspired me to think beyond the textbook and the classroom.

Project based learning involves starting a project of some sort, plan and execute it in a timely fashion. In this preliminary stage of Project Horizon, students would be given a choice to work on specific projects. The projects would be focused on different categories namely science, food, & culture.

Project Horizon aims to be a platform for high school students to realize their creative potential and to apply what they have learnt and express themselves through projects.

Through this Pozible campaign, The Project Horizon Team aims to reach out to an initial number of 25 high school students from the ages of 16 to 17 years of age in Malaysia, from this initial number Project Horizon would be able to pick up additional sponsors such as CIMB foundation and Taylor's University.

How The Funds Will Be Used

There would be a total of 5 projects under Project Horizon
The RM 700 would be disseminated as follows

Each of the 5 project groups would receive a budget of RM100.

The remaining RM 200 would be used to subsidize travel costs of facilitators

Open learning the online learning platform would be used to deliver a specific lecture series.

The Challenges

Main obstacle for this project is to match the timelines of the schools, as high schools in Malaysia only operate from January to November, students would only have three months to execute their projects whilst carrying out their normal school activities.

This is where Open Learning and a host of other project management tools come into play. Participating students would be though how to manage a project by experienced project managers from AIESEC (The world's largest youth run organisation), as well as facilitators from Taylor's School of engineering whom have a wide portfolio of projects under them.

Using these resources, it would be relatively easy challenge to overcome.
