What is Gomi Boys Ramen?

Gomi Boys Ramen is the passion project of Melbourne chefs Ben Reardon and Ryan Maher.

It was transformed from a hobby into a business with the onset of the initial Covid-19 lockdown. Out of work and in need of income, we seized the opportunity to provide restaurant quality ramen to people’s homes. We created a range of heat and eat ramen kits which we made and delivered ourselves.

After spending the last 12 months trying to find the perfect bricks and mortar location, we are back!

692 Sydney Rd will be the home of Gomi Ramen Shop, where we will produce our unique blend of Japanese inspired food using local produce. We will be opening our doors to you in December!  

What sets us apart from other ramen shops?

Gomi Ramen Shop will be a Japanese inspired ramen bar boasting many vegan and vegetarian offerings.

Our mission is to create a unique and inclusive dining experience, with an emphasis on ‘eat at the bar’ style service. Showcasing our hand made noodles, with a changing seasonal menu. 

Highlighting our house made preparations, using sustainably sourced, seasonal local produce.

Our key philosophies as a business are sustainability, minimizing waste production and local food provenance. Using imported ingredients only when there is no other alternative. Everything we do is born from the ethos of simplicity and functionality, from making our own niboshi from Victorian sardines to our house made whole wheat noodles.

We are rasing funds to ensure a succesful opening, so that we can remain a fixture of the Sydney Rd dining scene for years to come.

Transparency is important to us so we want to highlight where the money you pledge will be going to. We are not going to try to glamourise or sugar coat it, this money will be going towards opening costs.

Our first target of $15000 is to ensure a smooth and successful opening. It will be used to:

• Buy produce to stock the restaurant for opening.
• Pay initial staff costs.
• Hire designers to create our signage.
• Cover marketing costs to get the word out.
• Facilitate a welcome to country ceremony

Once we've made our initial target, we will include stretch goals to pay for a launch party, and operating costs for the next fiscal quarter. The first 10 people to pledge to our campaign will recieve an invite to the launch party, as well as tickets available for purchase. (These will be limited due to potential covid 19 restrictions)
