Grace Kingston

'Like' will be my first solo exhibition in New York, or in any location outside of Australia. I'm pretty excited about it! It will feature 21 photos from my Moss Stencils series created at Arteles in Finland last September, as well as a new installation where I slice current events publications ranging from news to personal interest (i.e. magazines and newspapers) into status/tweet sized pieces, and using rope/string, weave them into a fabric that mimics the sphagnum moss featured in the photographic series. This body of work continues my fascination with translating the virtual world back into the real environment, and pays homage to the millions of contributions made to online social networking platforms daily.

If a tweet falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

This series of work has been featured in the prominent Australian art platform, The Art Life as well as Street Art in Finland. The exhibition will take place at the huge and beautiful 319 Scholes in Brooklyn, opening Friday 15th of Feb at 7pm, with the performative installation taking place between 10am-7pm Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th. 

I know I've set a pretty ambitious goal, but I'm thinking positive thoughts as I smash out into the art world post-MFA. I'm so grateful for all the support everyone has given me up until now, and I hope if you're in a position to give $ that you'll consider it, or otherwise support me in love.
