Our Story

Hi friends,

I’m Marc, and I’ve been living in the Bega Valley for four years. I’m an outdoor enthusiast, and most importantly, a dad to two young kids (4 and 6).

The idea for this project came from a simple moment: I took my kids to a bouldering gym for the first time, and the joy on their faces was unforgettable. Climbing is natural to every child:  it sparks courage, laughter, and teamwork. That day was my ah-ha moment. I knew right then that we needed a place like this here in the valley.

Together with my co-founder Cyril, an experienced wall-builder and passionate climber, we’re turning that vision into reality: a climbing and sports hub for the Bega Valley.

This project is for:

What We’re Building & Why Now

The Bega Valley has surfing, biking, and bushwalking. But when it rains, families and young people have nowhere to go.
This climbing hub gives us a year-round space to stay active, build confidence, and connect. It’s about health, joy, and community. All in one place.

Building the full centre will cost around $600,000, and we’ve already secured half of that through private investors. To unlock the rest, we need to prove that the community is behind it.

That’s why this campaign’s goal is $50,000.

Reaching it will:

1. Prove community support: sending a clear message to councils, investors, and grant bodies that the Bega Valley wants this.
2. Help fund the 1st stage: every dollar raised will go directly into building the bouldering area, training mats, and safety equipment. It’s the foundation of the entire project and the first step toward opening our doors.

If we don’t reach our goal, we can’t start building. But if we do, we’ll bring this space, and all its benefits to life together. Your pledge isn’t just money. It’s a vote for this community’s future.

What to expect

We secured a large warehouse in Kalaru, which is centraly located in the region. 10 minutes from Bega, 15 from Merimbula, 20 from Pambula, and under an hour from Narooma.

Depending on how much we can raise from private investors, we will likely build our Gravity House in stages:

1. First the bouldering + training space which will be the core of our activity. 
2. Then we will create a colourful and dedicated space for kids to climb and play. 
3. Finally we will add the rope routes.

The vision for this hub is to have climbing at it's heart but it's going to be much more than that. It's going to be an inspirational place to grow your body, mind and your social connection.

If the campaign does not meet the $50,000 objective, you will be instantly refunded.

Meet the Team

👋 Marc Decerle
I came to the Bega Valley four years ago. I've been blown away by the beauty of the region and how diverse, inclusive and friendly the community is here. I’m building this hub so local kids and families have a place to play and grow, and outdoor enthusiasts can progress a new skill that connect them with our nature.
I rediscovered indoor climbing with my kids, and it was a defining moment. This project is for them, and for every child who deserves a safe and inspiring space.

I’ve built climbing walls back in France, and I’ve always been obsessed with that feeling of playing with gravity.
Climbing fires me up : it’s physical, mental, and endlessly rewarding. Every move is a mix of focus, fear, and pure excitement.
But what I love most is how climbing brings people together: families, friends, kids, beginners, and pros,  all sharing the same wall, the same laughs, the same little victories.

I want to bring that spirit to the Bega Valley. To create a space that’s alive with energy, connection, and the thrill of pushing past what you thought was possible, together.

We’ve done our homework from market research and financial modelling to a solid business plan that’s already in the hands of potential investors. 

Based on conservative assumptions, the business is forecast to generate around $190,000 in profit in its first year, even with just 1% of locals and tourists and 20% of local schools taking part.

The main challenge now is proving community demand. That’s where this crowdfunding campaign comes in. 

While it represents only about 8% of the total investment, its success will de-risk the project by showing real, measurable support from the people who will use it.

Reaching our goal gives investors confidence that the Bega Valley is ready, and that this project has the community behind it.
