Growing - Short Film

Hi everyone! 

Welcome to the fundraising page for the Short Film Growing. Growing is a Coming of Age short film about a shy 13-year-old who is distanced from his parents as they begin keeping secrets from him and are constantly arguing with one another. While attempting to reach out to them, the truth is revealed, and he feels lonelier than ever. 

Director’s Statement 

Growing is a Coming of Age short film about a young teenager named Mason who is constantly isolated from his parents. He is trying to discover himself and make his hard-to-please parents proud, but his situation is made difficult when all his parents do is argue and he is forced to confront them about their behaviour. Growing aims to resonate with young teenage boys who suffer from adversity, not knowing who to turn to when times get tough; to show them that they are not alone and will get through their current situation. 

We think showing diversity and disability on screen is so important, and for these characters to be told in a realistic and honest way. This is something very close to the Director’s heart as we aim to break the stereotype constantly shown in cinema and to prove that Mason is so much more than his disability.

Our budget has been made to help us create the best film possible, even when tight on the money. Here are some of the major costs involved in the creation of our film: 

Catering

We will be providing 2 meals a day and plenty of snacks for our cast and crew to be fed sufficiently across all 3 shoot days. 

Costume and Props

We require some very important props and costumes in order for our film to be made believable. 

Health and Safety Essentials

Due to COVID-19, our production has experienced many delays and may potentially be forced to change even more due to the current world climate. In order for our cast and crew to be safe while filming, we will need to pay for extra health and safety essentials during production.  

Film Festival entry fees

After the film has been completed, we wish to submit our film into film festivals from all around the world, which can be a very expensive process.
