Hay Dust & Rust Charity Rally

Soon I will be venturing into the outback for artistic inspiration and as a part of my discovery, I will be participating in the Hay Dust and Rust Charity Rally. This will slingshot me into country life experiences and small outback towns.

It will also allow me to give back to the areas where I draw inspiration. And this is why I am here today

The Hay Dust and Rust Rallies are about Raising money and awareness for Health issues in regional Australia.

So what do we mean by Rally? Well, it's not a race. But you need to cross some 2000 km of the toughest outback dirt roads in a “Shi*t B!x” type car that costs no more than $1000. 4 days at a time of year where heat, dust, and flies will be the order of the day. Each car raises $1500 for charities before they start the rally.

There are a maximum of 50 cars (participants & support vehicles) participating in this year’s rally. I will be in Car 33 with 2 of my crazy sisters in full steampunk theme, car and all. 

28th October – we leave Hay, time and venue TBA

31st October – we arrive back in Hay.

12th November – Rally Tally night. This is where we get back together in Hay and anyone and everyone is invited. We continue to fundraise and then we announce our final amount which will be distributed to the Can Assist, Hay Community Health Trust, Angel Flight, and Cancer Research – Western Division.

As a part of my venture through the outback... and quite the venture as I will be coming all the way from Dayboro QLD. I will be involved in a creative arts project called Dust and Good Bones. Seeking out the creatively inspirational corners of country Australia. Follow my blog as I cover over 5000km in 2 weeks(including the Dust and Rust rally) for that extra little bit of entertainment.

Even though great and worthy causes will be supported by the rally, I hate asking for money so I am going to entice you all with some creative goodies for that extra warm and fuzzy with your donations.

100% of Funds raised for the Rally through this page will go to Angel Flight 

Angel Flight Australia is a registered, not-for-profit charity that needs the help of individuals and companies to undertake its charter of helping people in need. 

 - A charity that coordinates flights to assist country people to access specialist medical treatment that would otherwise be unavailable to them because of vast distances and high travel costs

Angel Flight is funded by private donations.

• They rely entirely on donations from individuals, clubs and service clubs, large and small companies, and bequests.
• They have a policy that we never follow up donors asking for more support.
• They do not employ fundraising companies or pay for any advertising.
• They rely heavily on our volunteers to coordinate fundraising activity.

All flights are free and may involve patients travelling to medical facilities anywhere in Australia.

Angel Flight pilots do not carry aeromedical staff or medical equipment so do not act as an

alternative to the Royal Flying Doctor Service or Air Ambulance in that capacity.

With its current resources, Angel Flight can coordinate up to twenty flights per day.

All donations over $2 are tax-deductible!

100% of the money donated to Angel Flight goes directly into our operating costs. Donations are used to pay for:

• fuel,
• discounted commercial flights when poor weather prevents light aircraft from flying, and
• the Angel Flight office that runs on a very small infrastructure, with six full-time coordinators who are assisted by volunteers.
