We are a group of artists who have attained an old bank space in Greensborough, Melbourne which we can transform into a hub of creative goings-on. We envision Make Your Mark to be a free public art space, which is accessible to everyone in the local (and broader) community. Where people can access various creative projects/activities/workshops to develop new artistic skills, exhibit work and form collaborative links between emerging and established artists. Our main aim in this project is to have Make Your Mark as a free public art space where everyone can make their mark!


Background:
Make your mark began in October 2012 as a creative writing magazine wallet. The idea was to create a free writing wallet that anyone who wanted to write and read should be able to share/tell their thoughts/stories with others.
Make Your Mark has now formed into a group, including painters, illustrators, photographers, musicians, sound engineers and writers.



What is under creation at Make Your Mark?

We hope to develop the following areas further with funds obtained through our project:

Café Area
-Writing area
- Coffee/Tea and Food (cakes/biscuits)
-A café writer in attendance several times a week -Writers are invited to take part in the Make Your Mark Magazine

Music/Buskers room:
Guitar, drums, tambourine (people are welcomed to also bring their own instruments) collaborate and learn skills from each other.

Book Exchange (Library area)/Relaxation Drawing/Art Area:
People give and take books, in a free library exchange area.
People can relax in the space, read, write, draw in the space and meet various other people.

Workshops:
(Music, Writing, Visual Arts, Performance, Photography) Workshops held by Make Your Mark Group Members, external artists and community members with relevant experience.

Exhibition/Gallery space
(From all art forms) in which artists work will be on display in Make Your Mark from 2-4 weeks, accompanied by an opening night.

Events
Make Your Mark will be an event space inviting performances spanning all art forms (Music, Spoken word, Dramatic arts, free expression)

Make Your Mark is a free art space for everyone to Make their Mark! We are hoping our pozible campaign will cover some of the cost of utilities, art materials, basic music/pa equipment and a sound system for live events. The funds raised will allow us to kick-start Make Your Mark, provide needed creative equipment for the space and enable us to keep the venue running on a free/low cost basis.

The main challenges for our project will be operating Make Your Mark as a free space, we therefore really appreciate all of the support given to us in this project, we want this space to be free and accessible, and these funds will give a great boost in supplying us with the resources to do this.
