Good Job is a 7 minute short film rich in comedy, robbery-tom-foolery, a good dose of manly staring , action, redemption, and a twist or two along the way. It’s a high stakes spaghetti-parmigiana western stand off, following a vein of  Chopper meets Sergio Leone.

Think The Good, The Bad and The Unemployable. With less beards. But more suits.

Our location will be one of Melbourne’s most loved pubs, The Tote. We have secured permission for 2 consecutive days of unrestricted filming creating a unique opportunity to be part of it’s rich history. But we need your help to get there.

Synopsis

A stockbroker walks into a bar....

Anyone’s first day at work is tough, but failed broker Mick's new career as an armed robber gets off to a big bad and ugly start. Breaking in is hard to do.

Mick is a man with no plan. He's  just trying to get things done, making things worse one dumb choice at a time.

Good Job drops the audience in the middle of a botched robbery as we watch Mick drown in an evolving set of unlucky events. He’s instantly deserted by his accomplice, then confronted with an empty pub and no one to rob. But then fate suddenly hands Mick a way out, and back to his old life.  His chance at redemption could be the best job he’s ever had, but will luck cut him a break?

Remember, if work was fun it would be a hobby, and you wouldn't have to be armed.

Good Job - Try and do one.

About the filmmakers

This film is being produced independently by the Writer/Director Ian Hillman, Producer Stefan Raabe and Assistant Director Nick Venn, all working as an unpaid team. We've collaborated before, and our goal now is to step it up a notch by bringing this unique Melbourne story to life with the highest of production values.

Ian Hillman - Writer / Director

A strong and unique script, Good Job is partly based on Ian’s real life experiences of the corporate and not so corporate world. His knack for capturing the awkward truths of life comes through strongly with the characters he creates and in particular, dialogue driven narrative. This will be his second film he has written and directed.

Stefan Raabe - Producer

For producer Stefan Raabe, this is a script and project he was eager to help with, seeing that it would have to be realised within a tight budget. A filmmaker in his own right, and with many diverse on-set roles to his credit, he’ll be leading the hand picked team, while drawing on his marketing background from his advertising days to help promote the film through all stages.

Nick Venn - Co-Producer

Currently a Producer at Telly Ho, along with a passion for film, Nick brings a wealth of experience from his years in advertising as a Producer having exposure to countless TV shoots, as well as numerous short film productions.
