Isabel Henderson Kindergarten

Isabel Henderson Kindergarten is a not for profit community kindergarten which has been in operation since 1913. We are run by a committee of parents and rely on grants and fundraising for all our major projects.

IHK is committed to:

As part of our sustainability journey we have pledged to become a carbon neutral kindergarten by 2018. One of our biggest steps towards becoming carbon neutral is the installation of a solar system planned for late 2014. After much research and consultation we’ve sourced a system that matches the Kinder’s needs and aims. To fund this we are seeking $7,000 through crowd funding.  Please click on the play button above to watch our little movie. 

The funds will contribute to the purchase and installation of a 5kW solar system comprising a quality inverter and panel system and an Australian made racking and railing system. If we manage to surpass our $7,000 aim, we could purchase the system outright. Any additional funds would be invested in professional help to integrate our little sunshine project into our broader sustainability programs and kindergarten teaching. We would also love to add some more panels and further offset our carbon footprint. Being not for profit, all money we save (or possibly even make) from our energy bills each year will be used directly in the kindergarten programs into the future. 

If we don’t reach our target of $7,000 no money will exchange hands. But, if we’re able to raise over $7,000, please keep donating! We have big plans for our little project.
