Hi everyone,
We are two Sydney based photographers (MJ & Jana) and a make up artist (Kate).
We are now looking for people interested in taking part in a photo shoot that is fun, quirky and simply different. Because mother nature and it's animal kingdom is such a great inspiration to us and since we, people, evolved from animals as well (if you believe in evolution that is) - we chose this to be the theme for our project.
The idea is to choose your favourite animal, something you feel is close to you, represents you or that you simply like and we will create a makeup that is inspired by this animal of your choice for the first set of photos. The second, complementary makeup will be then chosen based on you animals natural environment so if you choose to be a fish, your second makeup will be as an ocean blue or a colourful coral reef or if you're a tiger then your second makeup would be a deep, lush green of the jungle. Each photo session will have 2 different makeups which take up to an hour each and the actual photoshooot takes about 1.5 hours per makeup. We will then select the best 5 to 8 images from each makeup with your help and retouch them to a professional standard.
Forget about carnival-like face paint or anything childish or cheesy. We're talking about seriously classy fashion make up... Well, you might think that is not possible but let us prove you wrong. With a talented makeup artist, a good location and our photoshop skills we can work magic… well maybe not magic but some bloody good results for sure… just look at the examples and you will see what we mean.
The end result should be an encyclopaedia of sorts with two sets of makeup for each person representing their favourite animal and it's natural habitat, therefore the name… Humans are animals too… a nicely bound hard cover book printed on good quality paper to keep, treasure and show off to others. (We are currently planning to post the books only within Australia but if you have any other plans, please let us know and we can surely work something out).
You don’t have to be a model or have any previous experience with both girls and boys welcome. Kate will do makeup for girls and face paint for boys - and guys, don’t worry, you won’t look like drag queen unless you really want to. We won't impose any age, size, or shape limits… the more variety we have the better the end result will be! (In case of couples being interested in shooting together, both of you will get a matching face paint due to time constraints as each makeup take approximately 60 minutes or more).
