This campaign finished on Friday, August 29 and in the end I was nearly 110% funded, which quite frankly, I find utterly incredible.

I'm overwhelmed to think that more than 90 people pitched in to support me and I feel more surrounded by my friends, family and community than I have ever known. Thank you for your bit, please know you've touched my life in such a positive way.

From now, I'm free to go ahead and have my album mixed which is a really important stage and dictates the quality and style of the final product to quite a large degree. Concurrently, I'll be developing the art and preparing for a December finish to the whole project.

I'm planning to have the final product ready to send to you, my dear Pledgers, in January - that's the goal anyway. Thanks for making that possible.

This is my fourth album, my second in the studio. It's the album I've dreamed of doing and I've invested more financially, creatively and emotionally than ever before. All very deep really.... but it's my way of explaining to you what this album means to me. It's a dream I have worked towards for years.

As a creative journey, it's been so amazing. I decided to avoid making music that bends to any outside factors, such as "Will it be played on radio?" or "Will this music lead to gigs?" and even "Will anyone else like this?". My only requirement  is that I make an album I really love, digging into the music that I feel passionate about and creating something that makes me happy. I'm hoping this will result in art that's genuine and has true soul.

THE PRODUCTION
I've been lucky to work with amazing producers, SIXFOUR Music - brothers John and Paul Bartlett who play keys and drums respectively in incredible soul/pop band, Lowrider. Together, we've made half an album and I absolutely LOVE the sound we've created.

Here's some vid of my June 2014 recording sessions with talented cats Brian Ruiz and Tim Wilsdon on bass and Mikey Chan on guitar. Overseen by production gurus Paul and John Bartlett with Tim Power at the controls. AND my awesome iPhone camera work, where I hum over the top of everything, cover the speakers with my fingers and laugh too loud - what a pro. These sessions make me feel so happy I just can't describe it.

I want to put that little bit more effort in to increase the level of finish. That means more of an investment in my musicians, the mix and the mastering.

Here's how some the costs shake down......

COSTS TO COME
Mixing 10 songs at approximately $600 a song - $6000

Mastering 10 songs at $160 per song - $1600

Musicians - how long is a piece of string?! We are yet to record some guitar, backing vocals and keys. We'll record what we can afford.

Art and CD pressing - haven't even thought that far yet but it's on the horizon......exxy.....

COSTS I'VE COVERED ALREADY
Production, studio costs, some musician fees - about $20,000. Some of my generous muso friends have donated their performances to the project - thank you my lovelies. We've also invested in our own studio gear (over and above the $20 grand I mentioned) to enable us to record as much as we want into the future without the pressure of paying for a studio by the hour, it's really helped!

So, if you like what you hear and you think this project is something you can get behind, choose a pledge and pre-purchase a copy of the album accompanied by the reward of your choice. You might like to know that if the full pledge amount has not been reached, no money leaves your account.

When I'm not being a musician, I've got a normal full-time-job-in-an-office kind of life like everyone else. It's taken me a year to get the album to this point, partly because I have limited time and partly because of funds. We'll finish no matter what, but support will enable me to finish it faster and better.
