Birds of a Feather is a labour of love and we need your help to get it out there! For the past 10 year, TEN YEARS, Bianca Nall the creator and animator, has been animating this film, primarily hand drawn. It is rich, it is beautiful to look at, and it is a work of art in itself.
Now in it's 10th year of animation the film is in its final draft and is about to start audio work. We are a small production team consisting of the Animator, myself the Producer, and a three person audio team. Everything you see on screen is a result of Bianca's hard work. 
The short film will have a run time of 8mins, and is a family friendly story of friendship and loss between two pelicans and a small sea bird, with a creative style that crosses all levels of communication.  
As a short film festival director for the past 17 years, I am stunned by what has been achieved with this film by Bianca. Each year our festival receives over 300 entries and we have to wade through the pile seeing some great content. Birds of a Feather has me extremely excited, I strongly believe this film will do really well on the international festival circuit, and will create a great platform for this dedicated animator.   

Birds of a Feather is a labour of love, Bianca has invested 10 year, probably more into this film. To create an animated film of this quality a minimum ballpark investment would be $20,000, and that would be only to cover the costs of the animation. 

I have been involved as a creative producer for the past two coming on to three years, I have no interest in making a profit from this film. The moment I saw the quality of the animation and the amount of work Bianca has put into I jumped at the chance of helping her brig the film to completion. I will also be working on the sound design of the film. 

We are working with young students in composition and music to bring the film to the highest standard possible. 
I will also be creating a marketing strategy towards this short film to ensure the film reaches it maximum impact. This will include entering it into key open category and animation festivals around the world. It is crucial to Bianca's success that the film makes it to some of the worlds key film festivals.  

So how will your support, help us get our film out there? 
Film festivals charge entry fee's for film makers to enter their films. The larger and the more prestigious the festival the more expensive the entry fee is to the film maker. This could be anywhere between $150 to $300 to enter just one festival.

Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film

To name just a few of the international festivals we are eyeing off, the local market is equally important to us with the likes of MIFF, St Kilda Short Film Festival, and of course... ITB (though nowhere near as important!) And I am happy to waiver the entry fee for this film!

As you can see the cost for us to enter into these festivals really takes up the budget for the campaign we are running here. But I will be 100% honest I am investing my own time into this project because of the the fact I totally and utterly believe this fantastic little local film will make it!  But we need your help to get us there.   


 


   

Fortunately the biggest obstacle is almost done, MAKING THE FILM! The film must showcase the best possible talents of all on-board. Although its highly unlikely, we might have a slight delay in the production of music for the film. We are going to target the largest and most prestigious festival for animation.

We do believe it is strong enough to make it into the festival programs but we will also have a secondary batch of festivals that will be entered. The final production date of the film will align with major festivals to strengthen the possibility of acceptance.
