I’ve been selected for Proximity Festival 2014 and need your help to develop the work.
Let’s Make Love is a 12 minute performance created for one audience member at a time: an invitation to make the chemicals of love.
I am interested in the idea that certain simple activities generate oxytocin (also known as a ‘love’ hormone). Oxytocin is on the World Health Organisation's List of Essential Medicines: a list of the most important medication needed in a basic health system. Let’s make some together.
Love can come form any authentic connection, and during the performance I will ask the audience member to join me in different actions to try and raise our oxytocin levels. Some of these activities include: climbing on rooftops, smashing plates and walking hand-in-hand...

Let’s Make Love will be developed and presented as part of Proximity Festival at Fremantle Arts Centre 22 October – 1 November 2014. Proximity Festival is the first platform in Australia dedicated to the creation and presentation of one-on-one intimate performances. Co-founded by James Berlyn, Sarah Rowbottam and Kelli Mccluskey, Proximity Festival provides critical peer support, encouraging artists from all disciplines to experiment with new modes of practice in the creation of participatory art.

How The Funds Will Be Used
Funds raised will go directly to purchasing materials for the show. Things I need to spend money on are:

The Challenges
Proximity Festival is a one-on-one performance festival – I will be doing this work twelve times a night for two weeks for just one audience member at a time. The greatest challenge for this work involves refining a simple process that will generate as much oxytocin as possible in a 12-minute experience for the audience participant. Another challenge will be to find a way to safely climb onto the roof of the Fremantle Arts Centre, seeking love and avoiding OHS silliness.
