God of Carnage | Melbourne Fringe Festival '12
God of Carnage
By Special Arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd
“Fortunately, there is still such a thing as the art of co-existence, is there not?”
Pop Culture proudly presents God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza - a savage comedy of no manners.
The Vallons and the Reilles meet to discuss a playground incident involving their children. It isn't long before the thin veneer of sugarcoated civility is stripped away, and the civilised conversation descends into childish chaos.
Pop Culture make their Melbourne Fringe debut for a strictly limited season at The Theatre Husk from October 3-6.
Let the carnage begin...
Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, God of Carnage is a rollicking 90-minute rollercoaster ride that will have you howling with laughter at every twist and turn. Translated by Christopher Hampton, the play exposes the painful joys of marriage, parenthood and good clafoutis with wild humour and razor sharp satire. Sometimes grown-ups need to be taught a lesson or two. After all, getting involved with children’s quarrels doesn’t solve anything, does it…?
Yasmina Reza is an award-winning French playwright, novelist and screenwriter. Her plays include Art, Conversations After a Burial and Life x 3. Reza collaborated with Roman Polanski on the film adaptation of God of Carnage, which was released in 2011 to critical acclaim.
Pop Culture’s God of Carnage is co-produced and co-directed by Jeremy Guzman and Lindsay Pritchard, and features a stellar cast with Armando (Michel Vallon), Melina Wylie (Véronique Vallon), Chris Martin (Alain Reille), and Michelle Myers (Annette Reille). Christopher Weinberg also joins the creative team as Assistant Director.

"Elegant, acerbic and entertainingly fueled on pure bile." - Variety
"[Reza] holds the mirror up to bourgeois hypocrisy with the savage indignation of a born satirist." - The Guardian
"This play is a riot. Your face will ache from laughing." - Herald Sun
