Pitch:
Why should you invest in this project? Why are we worth your hard earned dollars? These are good questions and indeed many will read this and decide their investments are better made elsewhere, and that's fine, but a few of you will understand what it means to be an artist and to have passion for a project but to be held back by lack of money.

This film was not made to make money, nor will it; this film was made to learn from the experience and to expand the portfolios and possibilities of everyone involved. We are halfway there, we have all learnt a hell of a lot. Now with your help we can achieve the second part by releasing a completed, polished film  to festivals around the world.

This is not a charity, you are not just helping us. You are investing in the future of Australian film and we all want to watch good films.

The Project:
A Coin-cidence is a short film about fate, people who need to start taking risks in their life, and the good that sometimes emerges amongst all the crap. It began as student film at the International Film School Sydney but has since grown into a collaboration of creatives throughout Sydney.

Script development started in late 2011 and the script went through 8 drafts before pre-production began in February. The school provided us with great equipment and a small budget as well as access to fellow students and industry consultants. The base crew was assembled and casting began in late Feb. A diverse cast of 15 Characters was put together and our Art Director Phil Kolotas worked on realising the unique visual aesthetic we were trying to create for the film.

The five day production period began in early April. We shot on location across Sydney including: The Rocks, Erskineville, Enmore and Kilara. Each location was carefully picked to fit into the unique world of the film. The Make-up department had the time consuming job of making every character look pale. This allowed us to bring up the saturation in post and bring a lot of vibrance and colour into the environment. We shot on a Panasonic AF100 and blessed with good weather our cinematographer Mark Sims achieved stunning results.

Post production has been a long and collaborative process but has now been put on hold as we have gone as far as we can without further funding. The editing process is complete and the sound design is in the making. Our incredible visual effects team have worked wonders by replacing the strategically placed green screens with images and footage more suited to the world of the the film. Our two talented composers Haydn Walker and Jonathan Zwartz have written an amazing score which is just waiting to be recorded. We just need a colour grade and the final DVD's to distribute the film to festivals. Some of the money we raise here will go towards festival entry fees which are always very high.

Plot:
The story is set in a slightly whimsical world full of colour and interesting characters. Jimmy plans his day in detail every morning, he works at a coin shop and every day at the same time he watches the same beautiful girl, Clare, as she walks past his shop. On this fateful day, she enters the shop and orders a coin to be picked up in an hour. Jimmy is promptly sent across town to deliver a coin. His objective becomes to return in time to give Clare her coin. Having not planned for this journey he is subjected to the powers of fate and coincidence which do everything to slow him down. With no fault of his he looses his bike, fails to deliver the coin and misses Clare, he even looses his job over the debacle. In the end Jimmy realises that one can not plan for everything, and that he should just go and talk to Clare.
