My name is Jo Diball and I am hoping you can help me where the government grant failed me.  I am making this plea for funding pozible site to help fund my daughter LEVI's art practice so she can actually have an art exhibition that is already booked. LEVI was born 14 weeks and a bit, early. She suffered 2 brain bleeds, acquired the brain injury and developed hydrocephalus that needed a vp shunt operation. The swelling in her head did damage to her vision and she is classified vision impaired and with a mild intellectual disability , She has worked hard to get to where she is in life with 7 operations and ive lost count of the hospital admissions now interrupting her plans. She is a beautiful girl and this solo show means the world to her. 

With me being so ill and swamped in debt i have let her down far too hard and why i am writing on my behalf to help my daughter, My beautiful natured, loving and considerate levi.

I myself have exhibited art, curated 16 art exhibitions, mentored, been published and assisted many artists more and i have worked as gallery attendant, and director at a university gallery ... i have been mentoring my daughter levi since being a school leaver as an outsider artist. Art is a means of not only levi having a talent but also it is her identity.

 Recently with the NDIS call up there was a grant levi had been receiving from disabilities group, it was a recurring grant of a lot of money. They pulled it to fund the chaos of the NDIS debarcle. So with the pull of the grant with no notice, we are left in trouble with not being able to catch up. I  am not able to work any more, levis dad has been ill and i have spent a month in the last six weeks in hospital and home hospital. The bills are enormous, the car is unregistered and we have little money or time to save with a rwc, car fixed, re- rego , a $600 electricity bill late, vet bills and my specialist gp has a rather large gap fee, other unregistered medicare medications and procedures that medicare just doesn't cover is feels unfair. This is on top of many many debts that have accumulated. 

 This is a real serious plea for help.  I thought my tax return would help but hex took all of it. Sometimes life just keeps throwing up hurdles, or high jumps, this is that kind of year for us.  Your generosity will help our situation as it will help levi and i have the car on the road, transport to go the places we need for her solo to happen, like the printers, framing places, gallery, install and for the closing list to be filled... Not to mention that levi needs money for her materials and to pay for all the necessary costs (printing, framing which adds up past the goal amount but i just couldnt bare to lose it with the pozible policies This is bare basics to make the dream of my daughters to come true. We already had to sacrafice one week of the gallery time and it was booked a year and a half ago when the grant was still going so it has to go on.....but even with all the stress  it still is the best thing to happen to her , levii says. . 

 I understand if you know my daughter and i , you will know that we have worked very hard to get this far for levi to have a solo exhibition. If you are a kind hearted person who wants to help a good wholesome young woman who may have a disability but wants to do the same things as we want in life.  .  I thank you in advance and i hope you can come to the closing on saturday 17 june at Graydon Gallery New Farm at 3-5 in the afternoon. IT is opened wednesday 13th to saturday 17th june from 11 - 5pm .

LEVIS ART PRACTICE AND EXHIBITION AND CLOSING COSTS  $1000

ART PRACTICE

• two canvas 
• mosaic supports made - if money permits. 
• art materials to finish all painting with paint pens ( most have runout of paint)

PREPERATIONS FOR EXHIBITION 

• Framing and printing
• Photographs developed 
• Gallery supports 
• Didatics and labels.

OPENING 

• Catering  - drinks and nibbles. 

                       - Champagne

OUR TRANSPORT    $100   I have a bad leg and i cannot walk for long without rest. i am in need of transport to get my car registered (6months) in my name  drive to get printing, to have art framed, to take art to gallery, to prepare for the opening and to save us enormous costs on a bus with brisbane transport which would end up being at least $200 ( am not exaggerating)   to do all this and then to be at the gallery each day.   With an uber it would be hundreds and out of the question.

RE 0 REGISTRATION 6 MONTHS                    $450 

The challenges will be the exhibition but we will get it done with the help of money. Nothing will stop it from happening then.... I am worried only if we dont meet the lowest goal.  IT is the lowest realistic amount i can make. .  The challenge is to be positive at such a gut wrenching time of late. But i have to be optimistic for levi as she is with great optimism holding on to this being a great exhibition.  AND IT WILL BE.... right..
