Late last year we had the chance to record our arrangements of Amy Winehouse's music – reimagined for nine-piece band and voice – at Melbourne's legendary Sing Sing Studios.
Now we're excited to be funding the final steps in the process so that we can share the music with you as an EP.
WE MAY NEVER MEET AGAIN explores some of Amy Winehouse's most powerful songs, with new interpretations of songs like "Valerie", "Back to Black" and "What Is It About Men."
Featuring the phenomenal voice of Elly Poletti with new arrangements by Joe McEvilly, this is no tribute act but a series of reimaginings, drawing from our backgrounds in jazz, soul, funk and more. With six horns and a killer rhythm section.
We've been performing the show for the last six months around Melbourne, including 5 sold-out performances at the Paris Cat. It's a privilege to explore Amy Winehouse's raw, beautiful and honest songs.
Last year we had the incredible opportunity to record at Sing Sing Studios and laid down great takes of 5 of the 13 songs from the project. After honing the tunes at our live gigs, they reached new heights in the recording studio.
What's more, the session was filmed by some of the best in the business.
We have the songs recorded. We have the footage ready to edit. And we've spent the last month lining up a six-city East Coast tour:

Note
Delivery is included in all rewards. It's just better that way. If you live outside Australia, it would be great if you could add $5 to your pledge to help cover the international shipping.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Everything we can do ourselves, we're doing. Joe's designing the EP packaging (like he did for our first album WINGS) and editing the videos (including the promo video above).
What we can't do ourselves is mixing and mastering the music – to make it ready for release – and printing the EPs themselves. For that we're going to use some great people and companies who we know and trust to deliver top quality results.
Here's our budget:
Mixing - $1040
Mastering - $150
Photoshoot - $300
Duplication (printing the EPs) - $1560
Video editing x4 videos - $0 (Joe's doing it)
EP packaging design - $0 (Joe's doing it)
SUBTOTAL - $3050
Minus money from existing EP preorders - $400

Any money that we make over the target will go towards our tour in July. We're going to be touring on a shoestring budget so that we can get to all the places we want to visit. Money will go towards accommodation so that we can sleep in actual beds.

While each project has its own challenges, we've done this before with our album WINGS – coordinating the recording, mixing and mastering, design, printing, and release independently. We learned a lot in the process.
In fact like a huge amount of musicians we do everything we can by ourselves. From booking gigs to publicising ourselves to the huge amount of work that goes into organising tours. Doing this for the last few years has given us the organisational skills (and frugal spending habits) to pull a big project like this together.
With ten people in the band it's hard to pay everyone fairly for the hard work they put in. This EP will help us get bigger opportunities, gigs and festivals around Australia. We have big dreams of playing our Amy Winehouse show with a string section and backup singers – releasing a high-quality recording of the music is the first step down that road.
