Hello!
My name is Jordan Scotney, I'm a musician/composer from Melbourne and I'm super excited to release my second album, Motion! It will be a similar style to my last album 'Origin' which loosely fits into the Cinematic and Neo-Classical genres. Piano and String Quartet will feature; there will also be Drum Kit, Electric Guitar and some other musical surprises that will be revealed soon. As with the title, Motion will have more movement, but also joy and uplifting qualities. The concept behind the album is the duality of stillness and motion. These two themes are expressed and intertwined throughout. For my album launch shows, there will be an immersive visual element to compliment my music, involving instances in nature that capture the themes. It will be moving… still... and everything in between.
Music for me is an essential part of life. Like eating, or breathing, I can't stop. Everyone has their … 'thing', something that drives, inspires and fires. This is mine; and a gift I share with you. I believe that music is an expression of nature, the present moment and the human psyche. I have no idea where music comes from, but when any sound is made, anywhere in the world, it happens for a reason. Something needs to be said, felt or heard.
In the last 6 months, one of my greatest passions has been exploring life. What an amazing thing! I consider my practice as a musician more about my growth as a person and experiencing life than actually playing or listening to music. When I think about it, most of my life is spent living, dreaming and having fun. My last album was such a reflection of my life at the time. As Motion is shaping, I feel these connections and I'm so excited to see myself in CD form! How cool, Jordan the CD! Hmmm… actually, I don't know if I'd like to be a CD…. unless I was Queen, or Graceland. Maybe I'll be lucky one day!

This budget reflects the amazingly talented musicians, sound engineers and artists who will bring Motion to life. 5% is added to this total so Pozible can fund their platform which has helped thousands of artists release their work. Any extra money raised will be used for more studio time mixing and recording, experimentation with sounds and gear hire. $2 from each album sale will go straight to Oxfam, including all pozible sales. If I sell all 500 copies, that will be $1000 raised! You may have noticed that there is no recording fee in the budget. This is because I'll be recording the album mostly myself with the expert advice of my friend Ben Coe from Penguin Records. Recording will be done between my home studio and the Australian National Academy of Music.

The Challenges
The only possible thing that could go wrong would be not raising enough money. I highly doubt this will happen with all your amazing support! But if we don't make the mark, you'll get your money back… maybe with a sad feeling inside, which won't last long. I've already booked my album launches, July 15th at The Butterfly Club, Melbourne CBD and July 18th at Burrinja Cafe, Upwey. So hopefully I have an album to launch!
