I have written a novel "The Crocodile Hotel" and I am publishing it with a small press: Cyclops press. I have written many stage plays that have been produced.

This new novel is set in 1970s in the Northern Territory and is about a young woman who teaches fifty two Aboriginal children. Jane Reynolds is alone except for her small son. It is very hot in the outback and there are dangerous crocodiles, wild buffalo and even more dangerous men. Jane is loved by the Lanniwah people, she helps them on their quest for Land Rights.New novel

How The Funds Will Be Used

I have already spent $3000 on an editor and a proof reader. Now, I need a further $6000 to publish as a small print run of 1500 books. I will promise 5 signed copies of the book to any donor who pledges $200. I will also promise 2 signed copies to any donor who pledges $100. I will invite you to the book launches where you will meet many Aboriginal artists like myself. I am also a visual artist and I will give donors of $100, an original drawing of Aboriginal characters from the book.

The Challenges

My main challenges are financial, however the novel may cause a bit of a storm because it portrays non Aboriginal  Northern Territory society in a poor light. There was a lot of racism at that time and I want people to remember this and learn to not repeat this era.

There are challenges in designing the cover.,

I have found an Aboriginal dancer who has agreed to be photographed for the cover. She has a fair bold face and beautiful shape. Louise Whalan is a renowned photographer who will take the picture.
