Peru for a Cure
I am at it again and I need your support to get there.
To celebrate a very important milestone in my life (2 years cancer free) I decided to tackle a challenge of a lifetime. In November last year I completed the grueling Kokoda Trail (roughing it in the jungle). This was made possible by throwing myself into an intense training regime, getting me in shape for everything the Trail hit us with - mud, sweat and tears. In the process I was very proud to raise over $10,000 for Cure Cancer thanks to the very generous support of friends, family, colleagues and clients. As a group we raised over $64,000 funding a young cancer researcher for 7 months in vital work to find a cure for stamping out cancer.
This year (June) I am at it again. There will be plenty of facebook status updates dedicated to the intense training required to get me battle ready for completing the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu in beautiful Peru. We will be following narrow mule tracks high in the Andes once we arrive. This trekking adventure will involve altitude (hopefully without the headaches, fatigue, sickness and nose bleeds - am I selling it to you yet?). I have been informed we have selected to do one of the hardest tracks you can do on the Inca Trail and I cannot wait.
Going through cancer was the toughest thing I have ever faced in my life and as a survivor I am passionate to play a role in finding a cure through supporting the amazing work that Cure Cancer Australia Researchers are doing. However, these trips do come at a financial cost. The total travel costs are approx $5,850 and I would like to ask for help to get me to Peru.
Thank you in advance for your support, encouragement and of course donations :)
Much Love
Kate the Trekker
