Matty Grey is a comedian with a bit of a difference. He’s a comedian for kids. No, not a clown or a magician. He’s a bright and belligerent character who yells at his audience until they are wetting themselves with laughter. When your audience is aged 5 years and up, that actually does happen more often than you might think. (Ew…) And the big difference with Matty’s shows is that the parents get to laugh too. He’s not cutesy, he’s not quiet and he’s not polite. He is loud and fun. It's certainly not sanitised kids entertainment.
Matty’s current show is “Age-Less 2: Game On!” It’s a show about games… video games, sporting games, arcade games, birthday games, school games, throwing games, catching games, magic games, games where things get broken and games where there are evil villains to defeat! It talks about how Matty got sucked into the world that games come from and how he had to battle his way to freedom. This show has been to the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy festival this year. In Melbourne the show even managed to pick up a 5 star review from one of the MICF official Funny Tonne reviewers. In Sydney it was featured on the ABC’s “Good Game Spawn Point”. Now we want to immortalise this show on DVD. We are planning to do the show in Sydney for two more performances during the Sydney Fringe Festival. We've organised the King Street Theatre in Newtown for the 26th and 27th September. We want to hire some cameras and some people to operate those cameras. We want them to come in and get some top quality recording of the show. We then want to hire an editor to turn that awesome footage into pure genius on a disc.
So, the money stuff. The good news is that we are already doing the performance itself for the Sydney Fringe Festival. So we have already arranged to pay for the venue hire, staging, technical requirements and advertising. The show has already been performed so we already have costumes, props and staging sorted. We just need the money for the film crew and editing.
We’ve already spoken to a DOP and he’s advised us on camera numbers, locations and staffing. For $3500 we can cover it all. If we get more money than we are aiming for then we can even think about adding fancy stuff like a spot operator, adding some bonus features to the DVD or even upgrading the microphones… but that’s only if our supporters REALLY love us. If we can get the $3500 we would be stoked and would be able to move ahead with this project.
