After having recently finished a 3 year Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design at the highly esteemed Ultimo Tafe, I have been incredibly fortunate to have been chosen to show as part of a student showcase at Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week. 

The amount of time, money and dedication I put in to my graduate range has paid off in many ways: with the positive feedback that I have received, the satisfaction of seeing my own designs come to life on the runway, and most importantly, with this incredible opportunity to share my work with industry professionals and press on a larger platform.

Creating a range is a very time consuming and costly exercise, and unlike more established designers, these pieces are purely for show, and I won't be reaping any financial benefit at the end of the show through sales orders. By showing this range I am primarily gaining exposure. Exposure is something which you can't put a price on. Fabric and making expenses however are something which you can.

Below are some of the aspects of the design process that your funding will help make more achievable.

-$200 Toiling fabric

-$1000 Self designed digital prints

-$1500 Other material costs (wool, thread, dyes etc)

-$1200 Machinist fee

-$1000 Model & photographer fee

-$500 Publicity printing costs

While these expenses are vital and unavoidable, what you are really helping fund is the opportunity for my label to be seen by potential funders, employers and stockists. This is a big step, and a very important one in the larger long time goal of creating an Australian label which focuses on original quality designs.

No amount of funding is too small, and I am incredibly grateful for all of your support.

There is no better feeling than knowing that you have the support and belief of your friends, family, and anyone else who believes in this challenging endeavour I have chosen to undertake.
