I'm Keg de Souza, a Sydney based artist (www.allthumbspress.net)
who's made things such as canoes, beer, giant inflatables and walking tours as art. I've also been making zines and artist's books for over 10 years
but until now I haven't had the chance to conduct a residency
focusing specifically on this part of my practice...
I have been selected for a 2 month Artist's Book Residency at Women's Studio Workshop (WSW) (http://www.wsworkshop.org/) in upstate New York through May-June 2012. WSW is the largest publisher of Artist's Books in the US and has been running since the 70s. Over the 8 weeks I will be in the studios letterpressing, silkscreening and hand binding a limited edition artist's book. The content I'm working on is based on word play and snippets and musings from my everyday.
In this style... (but will be coloured screenprint and letterpress):
The book I will be making is totally handmade and inspired by the Little Golden Books of my childhood. Like these books mine will have a 7" record soundtrack I'm producing to go along as you read the book. The residency provides access to the studios and accommodation but I need to raise funds to press the record. I hope you can support me to make this happen!
Any pledges over the goal go into my plane ticket, so still very much appreciated!! x
