Rock in the Vines Inc. is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit grass roots music festival that will run for the first time on Sunday March 9th 2014 at Big Hill Vineyard in Bendigo, Central Victoria.
Our aim is to provide regional bands with the opportunity to perform in front of a diverse crowd; playing alongside bigger independent names in the wider music scene. We believe that this provides a fantastic opportunity to regional bands that doesn’t currently exist and will in time provide long term benefits not only for the youth and artist culture of the region, but as the festival grows it will promote tourism and mean wider benefits to the Bendigo Goldfields Region.
We have already secured a great line-up of local and interstate artists, including Davey Lane (You Am I), The Lockie Dooley Band, King of the North, Jackson Firebird, The Ska Vendors with Pat Powell, The Spazzys, My Left Boot, Grim Fawkner, John Lingard, Aimee Francis, Jordan Allen and heaps more!
Rock in the Vines' major aims are;
• To foster local and emerging talent whilst embracing the incorporation of special national guests
• To connect the community through a family friendly festival
• To provide high quality services and management in an exceptional setting
• To generate cultural and economic benefits to the community

How The Funds Will Be Used

All funds raised through Pozible will go towards the running costs of the Rock in the Vines main event on the 9th of March 2014. We have already received a grant from The City of Greater Bendigo, some sponsorship funding, and also have done two fundraiser musical events with the support of our friends at The Golden Vine Hotel Bendigo.
As we are a not-for-profit, most of the performers are playing the first year for a reduced fee, showing their support and understanding of what Rock in the Vines is all about and helping to get this new initiative established.
A quick snapshot of our basic budget shows we can make this work on a crowd smaller than we are hoping to actually get through the gate;
Expenses:
Stages, P.A., Lighting; $10,000
Promotions, Merchandise; $4,500
Insurances, Corporate Affairs; $2,000
Operational (First Aid, Security, Waste, Toilets, Generators, etc.); $13,500

Income:
Government Grants (Already received); $5,000

Pozible Fundraising; $5,000

Ticket Sales (Minimum 500 at pre-sales price); $15,000

A share of profits once finalised will go to local bands who have agreed to do the festival for no fee.

The Challenges

The biggest challenge will be running the event within a tight budget, we have done a detailed analysis of all the costs and are confident that we can run the event with 750 ticket sales. Naturally, we hope to get a crowd of over 1,000 to attend so we can build it up for future years.
As we are a not-for-profit, none of the committee are getting paid, so the profits will go to the performers and to making this a sustainable event for many years to come.
Outside of the monetary challenge, we have already secured a great line-up of local and interstate artists, including Davey Lane (You Am I), The Lockie Dooley Band, King of the North, Jackson Firebird, The Ska Vendors with Pat Powell, The Spazzys, My Left Boot, Grim Fawkner, John Lingard, Aimee Francis, and heaps more!
So, we have the venue, we have the artists, we have the catering - all we need is you!
